  1. The number of shows for each corps is very close to what I would have guessed before this began:

    18 - Blue Devils 94,86,88,76,99,03,00,84,82,90,80,95,04,92,89,97,98,96

    17 - Cadets 00,05,87,84,83,89,93,95,85,82,92,98,91,90,97,96,01

    12 - Santa Clara Vanguard 89,99,88,00,87,04,03,75,93,86,97,02

    10 - Phantom Regiment 96,89,03,93,05,78,91,97,79,04

    8 - Madison Scouts 95,96,99,97,75,88,98,03

    6 - Cavaliers 00,02,95,03,04,01

    4 - Bridgemen 80,77,78,76

    3 - 27th Lancers 80,81,75

    3 - Crossmen 92,97,01

    3 - Star of Indiana 93,91,90

    2 - Bluecoats 05,90

    2 - Boston Crusaders 00,03

    2 - Carolina Crown 05,04

    2 - Muchachos 75,74

    2 - Suncoast Sound 85,88

    2 - Velvet Knights 92,85

    1 - Blue Knights 99

    1 - Glassmen 01

    1 - Kingsmen 74

    1 - Spirit of Atlanta 80

  2. Even after last year, I'm too accustomed to seeing Blue Devils and Cavaliers at the top to think it won't come down to those two. I guess Cadets re-established themselves last year, so make that a Big Three, one of whom will likely win it all. I'm guessing Phantom falls back down to fourth or fifth next year (Go Bloooo!).

Very good point. The problem for the Scouts, Bluecoats and PR is that they have to have three corps decline. That’s not going to happen in one years time. BD slipped last year but that was from a show that was poorly conceived from the beginning. The execution and talent of last year’s Blue Devils was still top caliber. I always hope for “new” blood at the top but as far as an analytical prediction, I wouldn’t bet against Cavies, BD or Cadets in November.

  3. I’ll get flamed for this because the BIG THREE’s shows were so unpopular this year but I think top to bottom 2005 was my favorite. After quarterfinals most years, I’m not in any hurry to get back to see the 17th – 13th corps at semifinals. This year I was! And the finals group  I’d say that positions 3 and 5-12 are top contenders for the best ever at their respective positions. I’ll probably forget this opinion in a couple of years (because of the recent “elite” corps less crowd pleasing shows of 2005) and go back to my favorites of 1980 and 1991. Right now I’m still thankful for wanting to be in my seat for almost every corps performance in 2005.

  4. I definitely thought The Cadets and the Cavaliers show were the best executed. This topic is not to question that. I just want to know your top five “entertaining” 2005 shows regardless of complexity or even musical superiority. Mine:

    1. Crown

    2. Phantom

    3. Xmen

    4. Spirit

    5. Scouts

Please try to set your affiliations aside. I’m a Scouts fan and I loved their show the best BUT if I could have seen the Scouts perform someone else’s show this is the ones I’d choose.
