Well, Dallas is the closest and we have to fly to our shows other than Houston anyway.

I will never forget the 'Texas' chant from you guys.
^OO^
I hope the "Texas" chant is a tradition by the two (or more) corps in the future. It was thrilling and yet sounded so odd at a drum corps event!

Training camp begins at the very end of July and DCI San Antonio is about the 20th usually.

If I didn't have Scouts 75 and Phantom 03 then I would take my chances swimming for the nearest island that had the one that I didn't...

I am new to DCA (last year was my first Championships). I was wondering what a DCA Classic Countdown would consist of? How about some DCA long-timers (noticed I avoided the word old-timers :sshh: ) giving us what you envision it as, same rules (no dups, 2-70s, 4-80s, 4-90s & 2-2000s). I know the history isn't the same as DCI but I'm just making it comparable...

Anyone else voting for Sky Ryders? I like most all of their shows so I'd like to vote with the majority to increase their chances of getting in.
-
Even after last year, I'm too accustomed to seeing Blue Devils and Cavaliers at the top to think it won't come down to those two. I guess Cadets re-established themselves last year, so make that a Big Three, one of whom will likely win it all. I'm guessing Phantom falls back down to fourth or fifth next year (Go Bloooo!).
Very good point. The problem for the Scouts, Bluecoats and PR is that they have to have three corps decline. That’s not going to happen in one years time. BD slipped last year but that was from a show that was poorly conceived from the beginning. The execution and talent of last year’s Blue Devils was still top caliber. I always hope for “new” blood at the top but as far as an analytical prediction, I wouldn’t bet against Cavies, BD or Cadets in November.

When was the last time a corps seeded first going into Finals did not win?

I know moving away from your Drum Corps family is very difficult. You'll have to drive a little to Houston or Dallas but GCS and Frontier need and welcome dedicated members like you! We (Frontier) have a few members from San Antonio and Austin SO come see us!

I’ll get flamed for this because the BIG THREE’s shows were so unpopular this year but I think top to bottom 2005 was my favorite. After quarterfinals most years, I’m not in any hurry to get back to see the 17th – 13th corps at semifinals. This year I was! And the finals group I’d say that positions 3 and 5-12 are top contenders for the best ever at their respective positions. I’ll probably forget this opinion in a couple of years (because of the recent “elite” corps less crowd pleasing shows of 2005) and go back to my favorites of 1980 and 1991. Right now I’m still thankful for wanting to be in my seat for almost every corps performance in 2005.
-
Hey Jeff, you belittle the Cavies dynasty by stating that the Bears have one?
…but great news to have more DCI involvement in the NFL stadiums!
-
A quick note, the stadium will charge for parking. That is out of DCA's hands.
I assume it is the usual $25 that we learned from Foxboro is a reasonable amout.
-
I definitely thought The Cadets and the Cavaliers show were the best executed. This topic is not to question that. I just want to know your top five “entertaining” 2005 shows regardless of complexity or even musical superiority. Mine:
1. Crown
2. Phantom
3. Xmen
4. Spirit
5. Scouts
Please try to set your affiliations aside. I’m a Scouts fan and I loved their show the best BUT if I could have seen the Scouts perform someone else’s show this is the ones I’d choose.

A surprise was promised for the Scouts’ Finals performance.
What could it be????
Perhaps another guest performer????

I say Michael Cesario will dance the part of Carmen. ^0^
