  1. I consider this the last "legitimate" drum corps performance; everything since is just band.
  2. If drum corps dies, it will be because of financial/economic issues and/or turning a blind eye to abuse and sexual misconduct
  3. If you think he isn't narcissistically using his daughter to worm back into the activity, you haven't spent much time in GH's presence.
  4. I have been on this forum since April of 2005 (yikes), and a big argument then -- and ever since -- has been that drum corps is going to kill itself by going the "band/WGI" route: you know, all the stuff people complain and fight about constantly. Amplification, Bb horns, dance, electronics, props, costuming, kevlar drum heads. The argument has always been: DCI is committing suicide by abandoning "real drum corps," and that all the legacy fans and alums will turn their backs, and no one will go to shows. https://dci.org/news/blue-devils-one-up-past-record-season-in-front-of-near-record-san-antonio-crowd The San Antonio regional had its second largest attendance ever, nearly reaching the record set in - wait for it - 2017. Not 1999, When they still used G Bugles! Not 2003, the year before amps destroyed the activity. Sure, a lot of alums and legacy fans may have left, but someone - at lot of someones - are paying to go to shows. So, I think we can say that argument has been thoroughly disproven by history.
  5. Not to hijack but the war was won by the heroic sacrifice of millions of people by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
  6. I’d love for the parents of every kid marching DCI to read the Philly Inquirer articles, and then have Dan Acheson personally explain why that man is allowed to attend events.
  7. A lot to like about this corps and production, bravo.
  8. It's just marching band. It's kids running around and playing with, more often than not, bad sound. And really "dumbed down" arrangements of music, to fit some designers' idea. Always has been, always will be.
  9. It’s never going to be 1972 or 1987 or 2000 again guys
  10. Every few years I have a dream that I go to fill a hole at Cadets, then realize that I’m too old (it’s been that way for a while)
  11. The umbrella, hammer, and (funny enough now) crown are formed in the 2006 ballad. Representing “Alice” remembering Liquid, the drum feature, and the chess game (Dancer in the Dark ballad) from the 2005 show. The end of the 2006 opener had a keyhole (like in a door) rotating and turning into an eyeball
  12. Thanks for introducing me to WBGT, I am very into monitoring the weather as I live in Georgia and try to bike as much as possible
