  1. when the vanguard yell first became popular it wasnt written into the show, but since so many people did it they DID start writing it into the show a couple of years ago. i think they write it in now because they figure its going to happen anyway! haha
  2. ummm.... excuse me?? oh no you didnt. (did he/she just??) i know you didnt i simply stated my OPINION even if the site changes, RIGHT NOW its a C AVERAGE! (at best) but you are obviously master of the world and know everything about professional marching band :P :P
  3. wrong this is the most C-average thread ever
  4. capital regiment used to call themselves "the REAL regiment" a couple of years ago... big deal.
  5. i could be wrong but i think the problem is that the company that makes the guard uniforms dont have them done yet, and its not the fault of the volunteers. I think this is the case for a few guards..... like i said i could be wrong cause i dont really know anything about twirling flags.
  6. "when i play my trumpet, something amazing happens" :) i love that one
  7. im not saying its going to happen bit i'd say its very possible they can win brass they can win drums they can win feet they can win Music GE they can win visual GE ...im not sure they can win guard, they have a wonderful guard but.....man.. bd cavies and cadets guards are always sooo good. that being said they just need to do it all.
  8. if thats the crossmen uni............wow......(and i mean that in a good way) that is freakin cool!
  9. I dont ask if they would like more geometrical or curvalinear. I like to see which would best fit the music im writing for at any point and i would feel restricted with my creativity if i had to do one or the other more. (well you dont want to do a whole show geometric , or a whole show curvilinear, you need some mix in there) things you need: NUMBERS... im still waiting to hear numbers to write for for one band. USE A SCORE: VERY important for staging. helps very much to have easy access to the guard designer: ask them what they have in mind for any point in the music, sit down with them and go through the whole score/recording, and write down any requests they might have, or needs they might have for staging with the guard work. equipment changes. how many on flag/saber/rifle. do you want the weapons integrated with the flags? or seperate? percussion as well. prime numbers suck another thing is that some bands will have special students march. their safety is important, keep this in mind. before even starting to chart, use your score to write notes for every phrase (ex. this calls for tension building, circular motion, impact point, 2nd krumhorns must be heard, etc). dont get lost in what you are writing for any particular section, remember as one thing is going on, its also setting up what happens next. the last thing you want is to get stuck. also as someone mentioned try to get a video of the previous years show, you need to know what level the group is at, what they can handle, what they cant. who is their primary audience? corps style band? or more showish (ie college bands) what stadiums are they going to be seen in? will they be in stadiums with low stand primarily? or bigger stadiums with a high box. some drills are effective for low boxes and not high boxes, vice versa.
  10. is that a loin cloth?? I think I like it, only thing is it looks similar to other corps, but no biggie i guess. they will look alot cleaner w/ the black pants.
  11. I like Regiments chevron, but not the one on the website. I like the one on the arms of the uniform also vanguards shield.
