  1. Were the tickets sold? I'm looking for tickets for Friday and Saturday night.
  2. I'm interested in buying a single ticket for all three nights if you're willing to break it up that way. PM me.
  3. I saw them early in the season in So Cal. I recall the guard doing a uniform change into vintage looking uniforms just before the bottle dance. My memory might be off but it seemed the transition took a long time. I would also love to hear more about that year.
  4. "I don't know how you can drop a six foot piece of pipe."
  5. Several people mentioned DCA 2006. Prelims night. That was a miserable experience. The rain seemed to be going sideways. It felt like it was about 50 degrees, and I kept thinking, "We worked our butts of all summer long for this?". We were freezing, the field was flooded. Someone said there were no hash marks. Heck there were no yard lines. It was a soccer field and any lines that were painted were gone. I remember I dropped my opener flag twice within the first 32 counts and I was so ticked off that I remember saying to myself, "OH, hells no!" I fought every release after that and didn't drop again. The weapon line did some work on the ground during the ballad and it was so flooded that when they came up, they threw the water in the air over their heads like it had been choreographed that way. Good times.
  6. http://www.vicfirthgourmet.com/ Now I've seen everything. By the way, you can get Mario Batali pepper mills discounted at Gilt.com.
  7. Does anyone know if the seat numbers in each section run from the middle to outer edges or from out to middle? For example, would seat number 1 be closer to the center than seat number 9? I'm looking for a seating chart online that gives actual seat number detail, but I've not been able to find it.
  8. As a member of the 2007 Renegades, let me also thank you for your kind words. While we didn't come in 1st in the judges eyes, the crowd's response to our performance made all the hard work worth it. With all the strange rumors flying around about us, it was great to show the DCA crowd that we're alive and kicking. We had a blast putting on our show and entertaining the audience. Let me also give a special shout out to our brass section. These guys rock! They made performing the show all the more fun. During one of our sectional rehearsal blocks this weekend, the horns and drums were running through the opener. They were a good 100 yards away from us and facing the other direction when we just all stopped spinning, put down our equipment and started to listen to them blast through the opener. We were like "holy sh##, they sound amazing". When they finished, we just starting cheering and clapping. It was great. There was also a special moment this weekend when they asked the guard to go into their arc and listen to them sing (yes, sing) the balad. It was beautiful and very emotional. Everyone returned to the warmup block wiping tears and just savoring the moment.
  9. My ISP is SBC/AT&T, and I was unable to access DCP for several days about a week ago. Somehow, the issue resolved itself. I'm just glad to know I wasn't alone. I will read the article in the wikipedia link to better understand the issue. Thanks for the link.
  10. Lookin great guys! Can't wait to see you in Sunnyvale.
  11. On Sunday, Greg helped the guard with sectional run-throughs. You should have seen how much grief we gave him because of his lack of finesse with the cd player. We kept saying to each other, "I though he worked for Apple". Obviously, he wasn't working wtih an iPod. Even still, his help was greatly appreciated, and we're all the better for it.
  12. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but there was one IW guard (Interplay, I think) this year that had an amazing flag line. I remember asking my friend rather tongue-in-cheek, "Did they have a weapon line?" It wasn't meant as in insult to the guard but rather a compliment to the flag line. Whoever they were, they were incredibly clean and beautiful. Unfortunately, they didn't make finals and it was hard to keep track of the different guards in prelims. My apologies if I've got the wrong guard.
  13. Practicing with temperatures hovering around 100 and watching kids do cannon balls in the pool only a few feet away.....yeah that was just not right. It does make our "death camp" and the wind at Treasure Island seem like a walk in the park. As for me, I'm ready to tackle this challenging show. I want our next show to showcase just how strong I think this corps is.
  14. A few years back, I had my first and only experience in a winterguard called So Cal Co Op. Because all but maybe one of our members were over 21, we had to compete in the world class, against the likes of Fantasia and Pride of Cincinnati. Eh yeah, and most of us hadn't marched in over 15 years. Anyway, at one of our shows, the judge said something like this about 3/4 of the way through the show: "I've yet to see a World Class moment in this entire show." Even though it stung at the time, we laugh about it today. We even considered using the quote on our jackets.
  15. Looking at the videos on the bus from last year in Scranton and this year in Nor Cal, I commented to other guard people that I thought we were as good if not better this year in August than we were last year in September. Although I know we pushed ourselves because we knew this season was shorter, I do believe that had we of had a few more weeks to clean and tighten, the show would have been awesome in Scranton. I don't regret not going to Scranton, because I may not have been able to commit with the extra time. I really loved performing the Kill Bill show. I loved the music, the guard book and the overall positive attitude the corps had this year. Thanks everyone for a great, I mean great, season.
  16. George, Was that Solid Men to the Front, because that's my all time favorite.
  17. I competed in a world guard this year. Our average age was over 30.
