  1. http://www.bushwackers.org/member/openhouse2006.html/ November 26, 2005 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The location will be: Rutgers U., Newark Campus Center for Law and Justice Building Atrium
  2. don't get me wrong, i'm a volunteer webmaster for the bushwackers site since it's inception in the spring of 1995. doesn't mean i have to like flash intros... that is a great slogan though speaking of 1995, check this out we've come a long way!
  3. the problem with intro pages like that is they're only cool the first time you see it. and it is pretty cool. however, now every time i want to go to the dca site, i have to sit through that (i guess you can skip it, but i'm a big fan of useability over style)
  4. I'm not so sure about that. My wife won't watch football because she doesn't understand the rules and doesn't want to listen to me explain them while the game is going on. See where i'm going with this?
  5. I guess all I was really trying to say by explaining was that there was no conspiracy or intent to harm or psyche out the Buccanneers. Ron is correct though. Ultimately, it is the staff's fault for letting them go the wrong way. I was right there on the front sideline too. If I even know it was a rule that could warrant a penalty I would have stopped them and told them to go the other way. The idea that our "strategy" was to go out and do something that we knew would cost us points and almost certainly cost us a placement knowing how tight the scores would be is simply absurd.
  6. I wasn't trying to turn this around into bash Fran. Please cut that stuff out. Fran and anyone else who feels that way is entitled to their opinion. I merely explained the situation to the best of my knowledge.
  7. Well, the 2 people leading the block off the field were 16 and 17 years old repsectively (i'm pretty sure on those ages anyway). They just had the show of their lives and were incredibly excited. They simply didn't know the rule and took a 50/50 chance and picked wrong. They said they heard someone say "turn right." If you don't think these kids feel bad enough already by getting us a penalty that cost us a placement without a bunch of people getting on here and chastizing them... I ran down from the audience after the performance to get off the field with the corps and I saw them coming across the front side and my first thought was "cool, i can get some good pics" because even though I've been in the corps since 1992, I didn't know you could get a penalty for leaving the field the wrong way. As we've seen earlier in this thread (maybe it was in the other finals thread) there are people who don't even know what trooping the stands even means. Point is, it really was just a simple mistake with no arrogance or intentional disregard for the Bucs. Even so, it clearly didn't seem to effect their performance, they rocked the house didn't they? If you'll feel better by thinking there was some kind of conspiricy by us to try and psyche them out or something then I guess you're entitled to it but it's very simply not the truth. I'm not trying to say we don't deserve the penalty. There was a rule, we messed up and we deserved it. Congratulations to the Buccaneers on an incredible season. The corps that performed the best won last night. The judges got it right. (including our penalty)
  8. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that...
  9. Click here for the full story on www.bushwackers.org
  10. the only thing worse than the lack of reviews is going to the "show and event reviews" forum and clicking on a link that says "reading review" only to find out that it someone complaining about the lack of reviews...
  11. The first time I ever saw a drum corps using stands was 97 Blue Devils. As, far as I know, it's a relatively new phenomenom. Drum corps, and especially drumline, has always had that "we're tough and ######" and all that. Don't get me wrong, it makes sense to use stands, especially for winter camps and such. I'm just suprised that it "blows your mind". I must be getting old...
  12. 96 Bushwackers - Genny who is now my fiancee
  13. We had some "crashers" or whatever they are called attached to our basses at the HS I teach this past season. We used these: http://www.lpmusic.com/Product_Showcase/Cl...um_cowbell.html Also by LP. The instrument you're talking about is not the same, but they probably mount the same way. They worked just fine.
  14. I've heard of setups where they have 2 of the same size drum in your tenor setup. Usually the 10 or the 12 I would assume. Anyone care to elaborate?
  15. My fiance played bottom bass (32") for The Bushwackers in 96
  16. if i understand it correctly, virtual drumline is just a collection of samples so it should work on mac as well. if you go to the tapspace.com site and look for virtual drumline, i'm pretty sure there are instructions on how to set it up for pc or mac
  17. oh cool. I've been trying to get there from the quick jump dropdown at the bottom of the page and that is still not working. just fyi
  18. Has it been down for a few days or is it just my computer?
  19. I guess you're talking about this page? http://www.anwd.net/soundfont/ If so, not sure what else to tell you. It worked for me that way. On that note, has anyone else used the instructions from that page with any success? I'm curious to know if those pages have helped anyone out and/or if there are any suggestions to help make those pages more understandable.
  20. "Also, if you are a laptop user, you'll need to access sounds from a program as there aren't any soundfont compatible soundcards for laptops that we know of." http://www.tapspace.com/vdlpcandprogram.html
  21. from my understanding, keep in mind i don't own virtual drumline, just read about it on their website, it's not the operating system, it's the sound card that is the limiting factor. you need a sound card that is capable of loading your own sounds on. there has been discussion in this section about this before and there is a free version that people online have built. I've compiled all the info about it in one place for everyone's reference: http://www.anwd.net/soundfont/ I don't mean to knock Virutal Drumline. I'm completely certain that the samples included there are head and shoulder above the samples in this soundfont. You may gain some insight from the instructions here though. I'm pretty sure the virtual drumline site has some pretty detailed instructions too...

  24. Started using the suedes at the HS line i teach last year. Mostly because I had heard that they last longer and I don't have a huge budget. Turns out I like the sound too so they are working for us all around.
