  1. Cavies MAY win tonight...by 2 points or less. But, that will be all...and last year will repeat itself again. By San Antonio, Cadets will be in front, and wont look back! Nate
  2. Bluecoats are great! They've gotten a bunch better since last weekend too! Good Luck! Hopefully you can catch Cavies!!!! I actually think they can do it! Their show is so much more interesting!!! Sorry Cavies, just not into it,...especially the music! *yawn!
  3. I'm not really worried about the Cadets. I figured that they would have a lower score than Cavies and BD's 76's they are getting. Remember, early season last year, the Cadets were losing to Cavies by 2+ points and didn't catch them until half way through. So, I figured that as long as they beat Phantom tonight, it was okay. Even if they lost some performance captions, it's okay. Because they did the same thing last year. As far as whoever that was saying their show is just "the same" you have to be kidding me. That's the whole point of them the past 2 years...they are being different!! All the props, etc is making them a different kind of drum corps. They are trying new things to try to shake things up, and innovate. I appreciate them doing that! Anything that is new is ALWAYS good! Like Bluecoats possibly battling for a top 3-4 spot this year! All I'm saying is that...it's going to be an interesting season!!! Nate
  4. LOL!!! I totally forgot that Pearl still has a picture of ME from 2002 on their site! :) Good times!!! Nate
  5. I predict: Bluecoats-73.5 Madison-70 Colts-65 Blue Stars-64.25 Of course, there is no real way to guess the exact points, so I don't really try too hard to come up with .0175 (or however many one thousandths of a point they have now.) However, I do just think about the point spreads. I haven't seen anything from Madison, but the reviews and scores haven't been too good. It'll be interesting to see how Myron Rosanders' drill will be with another corps...hopefully something NEW from him. Bluecoats will probably win every caption. Blue Stars will close the gap with Colts. (did everyone see that they beat colts in drums the other night? good for you blue stars!)
  6. ""Cavaliers. Machine. Right now the music is the highlight of this show for me. . I'm not sure that I saw the whole show though.......it just seemed to 'end'....and my immediate thought was 'that can't be the end'. Maybe I'm wrong and that's the effect they want. I hope that it changes."" For me, it's the music that is holding me back from enjoying it. I just need music: melodies. I need something that gets me interested. I know that Cavies always have a huge visual focus to the designs of their shows, but... I can't really "root" for the Green Team until they play some good music. I guess I just don't like their musical "style" of Original Compositions...oh well. I do definatly agree that their show just ENDS. I'm sure they'll fix that though. However, I thought they'd fix that problem with their show last year, and they didn't.
  7. I liked Phantom. I actually thought that they should be ahead of Cavies in Brass. Definatly another great drumline!!!! Couldn't tell too much about their drill though, a little on the choppy side (the video that is). I hope their drill can match their sound, because if it does...watch out! Could be able to break up the Cavies/Cadets 1-2 punch! Nate
  8. I'm using a MAC and it works just fine! I have OSX, and a pretty new MAC...so, hopefully yours will work. Do you have OSX? Nate
  9. Bluecoats seemed pretty darn good. Cavies have alot of the same drill ideas as the past, which is fine, since it works so well for them. Michael Gaines once again came up with some of the weirdest drill moves....can't wait to REALLY see it, from a good angle. Their show just doesn't seem like "the" show...ya know? Seems like it's missing something...unless they are incomplete...which would make it obvious that they are missing something...lol That's all I've got! Can't wait for Phantom! Nate
  10. All I have so far is Pioneer.... no Glassmen yet
  11. Where is this video of Cavaliers' show? I tried video.google and I can't find it anywhere. Please help! Nate
  12. You're kidding, right? I would say that the activity has evolved, not died. Granted, the groups are getting smaller in number. However, everyone must agree that a huge reason for this is simply the cost of a competitive drum corps season is so expensive now. The activity has evolved because of all the things you stated, and for the most part, is better because of it. I could go on and on as to why that is. So, I do hope that you're kidding me when you say that drum corps is dead. The members of all corps work their butts off for the entire season, and deserve a bit more of our respect. Just my opinion. Nate
  13. So, I'm guessing that this show in AZ would be after Denver?? (assuming that Denver would host a big regional next year). If heat is a concern...why not have a big Regional in SEATTLE after Denver? The weather is perfect up here that time of year. Could do Denver, and then do a tour backward of the early West Coast tour...ending down in Pasadena. Just a thought! Nate
  14. I know it didn't...it was too far ahead of it's time...I'm just sayin' that I think...to this day, it's probably one of the, if not THE best designed product to ever be on a football field! I could only imagine how hard it was to design that show!
  15. From SEATTLE, WA First off, I'm suprised that I'm the first one to post from Seattle. The sound was TERRIBLE!!! Some of us were saying how we had to whisper in order to call out the ticks from each corps. Seriously though, we complained about it, and the theatre said that they had it turned all the way up! Was this DCI's fault? I was not too happy about it...I can watch drum corps at home in surround sound and sound a MILLION times better than that! ANYWAY..... A few thoughts: -Just glad that the pit is on the front sideline...no marching tympani, bells...and how about that CHIMES player from 27th? That looked painful -For some reason I remembered 70's Drum Corps as being better than it was... -1984 Garfield...FAVORITE of the night!!! Mello solos...gorgeous! Best hornline of the night! Loved it! -1988 Madison...I don't know what it was about it, but it bored the heck out of me last night! -1989 Phantom...This is another one I liked alot more until last night...I LOVE "New World Symphony" and Phantom murdered the "Largo" with that silly "rock beat...BS" oh well...still like the show -1992 Crossmen...Best drum solo of all time! I LOVE that piece!!! Drumline was smokin'!!! -1993 Star...I think enough has been said about this show...I used to "hate" this show (before I knew anything about drum corps...lol). This show, I believe, could win a Championship any year...still. -1995 Cavies...I dont know what it is about this show...but it's just ...eehh... it's okay. I don't know why...I love the Planets, and I thought they had a solid product that year... I don't know what it is. It could be my love for Cadets '95...lol -1999 Vanguard... Still love this show...but it has ALWAYS killed me that the sound quality of 1999 was so bad! Everything sounds so dirty...drums, horns...yuck!!! This show was just soooo awesome live!!! I'm so glad that it made it! -2004 Crown... as my father would say... "you could learn something from this show!" he LOVES this show... I like it as well. Really did not like the "beat generation" with the guy talking through that entire production....lame. Besides, if you're going to sing...make sure it's good! lol... still like this show -2005 Bluecoats...man I never realized how freakin' good that drumline was!!! They played some FAST rolls...man!!! I loved this show...and last night made me love it even more! I'm soooo excited to see them this year! Bluecoats....top 4? top 3? I've never been a big Bluecoats fan...until last year!!! I'm sold! All in all...I really enjoyed it. Somehow, they need to figure out the sound thing. I don't care whos fault it was...but it was B.S. Nate Moddison -going to start a campaign to get 2002 Cascades on the Countdown next year!

Pacific Crest (see above) (either of these 3 could do it,..just my hunch that the Cascades wont drop out of semis) Wow! Alot of people are picking the Cadets to win! :) The family is rootin' for you Richard!!!! (inside thing) Nate B) theres my buck-o-five
  18. I would really like to see a shake up at the top! I think the past few years of just BD and Cavies is getting old. I would love to see the Cadets come on top, and Phantom (or Madison) to beat either Cavies or Devils (devils is probably a bit more realistic). I really do think that the Cadets will win the title, once they get nice and cleaned up...if not this weekend, by Allentown! Nate B) There's my buck-o-five
  19. CADETS!!!! I can listen to it all day! The show just keeps getting better and better! Nate B)
  20. My order: (BD first,...Cadets last) 1. Blue Devils 2. Cavaliers 3. Boston 4. Madison 5. Bluecoats 6. Crown 7. Phantom 8. Cadets Time for a new champ this year! Go CADETS!!!! Nate B)
  21. 98 would be my favorite! I love the Borodin stuff! 99 was very good too! The 98 Glassmen drumline really grabbed me at Denver that year,...and really got me excited about drumming! 98 was my rookie season,...and that drumline wowed me!!! Nate B) There's my buck-o-five.
  22. 1) Cavaliers 2) Cadets (only a couple of tenths behind,...they'll catch Cavies at Indy) 3) Blue Devils 4) Madison Scouts 5) Phantom Regiment (4-6 will be VERY CLOSE) 6) Bluecoats 7) Carolina Crown 8) Santa Clara Vanguard 9) Boston Crusaders 10) Glassmen 11) Blue Knights 12) Spirit 13) Colts 14) Mandarins 15) Crossmen 16) Southwind 17) Seattle Cascades 18) Capital Regiment 19) Esperanza 20) Troopers 21) Pioneer 22) Kiwanis Kavaliers There's my buck-o-five! Nate B)
  23. Well, my guess would be that the top lines (cavies, bd, cadets) will continue to clean throughout the season, and end up on top. that doesn't mean that that's what i WANT to happen, but just my guess. however, if madison does stay ahead of cavies for the next couple weeks, they could be in the hunt. same for bluecoats and phantom. phantom will meet up with cadets in denver next weekend,...so could be interesting. bd and cavies meet up next weekend in kalamazoo (sp), so could be VERY interesting to see who come up #1 there. anyway, just my thoughts thought i'd through in my buck-o-five Nate B) "if you don't through in your buck-o-five, who will?"
  24. They are Division 2 this year! Best of luck OC!!! Nate B)
  25. Yes,....best of luck to Cascades tonight,...and throughout the season! I know we'll be pulling for the home team! Nate B)
