  1. To be fair, that is a pretty big deal. Anecdotally it seems to have generated a great deal of interest in the Corps from a new pool of potential MMs, and that is a good thing going forward.
  2. DCP, how I have missed you. You never disappoint. A discussion about the Scouts moving to be inclusive of all genders devolves into a snarky insult-fest from people getting butt-hurt regarding someone's educational credentials. Again, I'd like to thank you all for your continued passionate interest in the Madison Scouts. That is always a good thing.
  3. Actually, I think it's more like 6. Alice (Bonnie) 3 Capitolaires that filled in as the American Party in the 70s The lady who preformed as Camen Meagan from last year. In my mind, if you performed with the corps, you are an alum.
  4. Well, catching up on this thread has been interesting to say the least. Thank you all for your passionate interest in the Madison Scouts!
  5. Actually, if you are old enough, you had to make an adjustment going to a flat drum.
  6. There will not be Slaughter, God Bless the Child, Malaguena, company fronts, or the traditional uniform, etc. There will be modern, contemporary drum corps, with a current version of "Maditude".
  7. One cannot re-write the past, but we can write the future.
  8. Well, time will tell so let's enjoy whatever is to come. Go Scouts, let's be Loud, Proud, and Pleasing the Crowd!
  9. The announcement comes from Chris Komnick. If you look at the upper left side you will see the author is Chris K.
  10. Regarding transgender participants: At the October 16, 2017 board meeting, the committee presented a recommendation to the board to amend its existing eligibility policy to include transgender males beginning in 2018. The board unanimously approved the recommendation and has been working with the National Center for Transgender Equality over the past two weeks to draft a policy with appropriate language. Eligibility for the 2018 Madison Scouts will be based on the gender identity indicated by the applicant, including transgender males. Seems clear cut to me.
  11. There, I think that may be a more accurate representation... Don't be a troll..
  12. At least we are passionate and hopeful, and I will never apologize for that!
  13. A well thought out analysis and trending model, especially given the fact that it is still August, and we don’t even know who will be playing what yet. One thing is for sure, it will only get harder to get into and stay in the top six, and the 10-15 battle will be more difficult than ever.
  14. I have disagree. I felt that they did a nice job of reconnecting with the brand while working toward making it work in the current artistic environment. I really liked each of the shows during Jim's time with the corps. Granted, I'm a total homer, but for me, they worked. The goal now is to take that re-established brand, and move it forward n the current artistic environment. The goal is also to be " Loud, proud, and entertaining the crowd"!
  15. BTW. We are certainly making some noise this week, and it is all positive.
  16. I can't wait to see what James Sparling can do now that he's been given the keys. I hope we have grabbed one of the up-and-comers at just the right time. Personally, I think we have.
  17. Here is what I posted in the other thread. ### For me, In want them to perform the show that the crowd talks about/sings as they leave the stadium. I always want them to be the crowd favorite. You are correct that in a perfect world, they can achieve that, and place in the upper end of the activity. What I would REALLY like to see, is for them to lead a resurgence in shows that play to the crowd and have big, powerful, WOW moments (in my mind at least). Can DCI turn in that direction, who knows. If it can, I would like to see Madison to lead the way.
