  1. It did sprinkle a bit during Excelsior and White Sabers show, mostly an annoying drizzle. Then a heavier rain during Empire's show. It cleared and there was never any lightning. DM only retreat. I think we were the only corps totally dry! I had a blast as it was my first DCA show in 6 years! Congrats to all the corps and kudos to the Crusaders! Their show needs some work, but it was not as bad as I was led to believe. The kids have been working hard to improve and the quality level was much higher than I expected. GO CRU! Bummer of the night: no after show party!
  2. I got word of this last night from Nick. "Tis a sad year for Erie DC. Un-FREAKING-believable!
  3. UFC 101! In the cage, no holds barred. 2 go in.......1 come out!
  4. I didn't take that as bashing at all. What you said was absolute truth. It doesn't matter who wrote the book, percussion, drill or guard. If you don't perform OR have the numbers to perform, it is moot. Your comments were dead on, my friend!
  5. Why bring all that up? They are obviously struggling and negativity on here isn't helping. Numbers are down and Cru is fighting for their lives. While I may not love the book, I fully support the corps and staff. I hope they manage to pull it together and salvage the year. All of your questions and comments on here these past weeks would be better served in PM fashion with Mike Linton or Gary Goldstein. Your open forum approach almost sounds like bashing. Get a grip, Keith.
  6. Bridgeport, CT 6/27/09 1. Hurricanes - 77.525 2. Caballeros - 75.900 3. CorpsVets - 70.363 4. Bushwackers - 68.400 5. Crusaders - 60.913
  7. Got a phone number or website link? Thanks CV!
  8. Mike, you young whippersnapper! Oh, belated HAPPY BIRFDAY! What, you 21 now? FINALLY legal????????
  9. Then there is the party.... Look away Heather....... Hee hee hee hee hee hee! I get it!
  10. "They used to have one there. The stadium is one of the most "interactive" stadiums that there is. There's basically no room between the sideline and where the first row starts!!!! I believe a long time ago, it was even mentioned that at the Erie Stadium it could even have been host to a Regional showdown becuase of it's location between most of the Northeast corps and the Midwest corps. It would definitely give groups like the Kilties, Govies and Minnesota Brass a chance to come East for a weekend and get on some of the DCA sheets while competing against corps like Empire, Syracuse, Rochester, Reading?, etc" Stop looking back? Hello,Pot? Kettle on line 1. Why don't ya come on up and play? You can take my spot, since I gotta work a real job. Maybe you can help them figure out what they did wrong and get a DCA show back in Erie. You must be really bored in Del wherever it is you are.
  11. I think that is a wonderful idea! Oh, wait, the last 2 shows in Erie, the sponsor lost upwards of $!0,000. Maybe THAT'S the problem?? (And yes, I was on the board and involved in both) Really Mike, ya think a PM to Gary or one of the board MIGHT have been a better approach??
  12. Again, this is Tom's wife, not Tom. I don't think the "light bulb going on" inflection can be felt/heard when READING a post. I read it as kinda...OH! OK! I GET IT NOW!!!!! ... LOL A lot of people are feeling bad about this whole thing and I think over time the open wounds won't be so salty and all will be taken in the right context. No harm. No foul!
  13. This is Tom's wife Shelly, NOT Tom. A few months ago Tom and I stopped in to a rehearsal. We were impressed by the amount of people who had come out for the horn line. When I inquired about the battery, I was told that there was some kind of deal with Lake Erie Percussion, but that they were finishing up their winter season and then would begin working with Thunder. It seems that since that commitment fell through Thunder had no choice, but to go inactive with so little time to try to "drum" up that section. It seems however, that the Statesmen will have a full drum line though...if you get my jist. (this is only from what I Heard) The colorguard problem has to be factored in here too. For a couple of months some where asking about who and what they were going to do about that and couldn't get an answer right off. The idea was nice, the recruiting needed more push. I had suggested several times that the community calendar, which is a free service, be used to televise the rehearsal dates and times and NEVER saw it advertised. This most certainly would have reached a broader base of people. I didn't see flyers around town, my kids didn't see any at school, I ONLY saw news of this new corps here. It is sad to see the plug pulled, but as least the hope isn't completely dashed. I am not up on all the ins and outs of forming a corps, but in my opinion...Maybe they came out too early and should have had more ducks in a row and better commitments before officially announcing this whole thing. It is unfortunate too, that Erie really isn't the "Drum Corps" town it was YEARS ago. IT was nice having Nick and Mikey B, over the other day. Chin up boys!!!! and...Yes Nick got Tom to drag his horn from the attic and play a little...Should've seen the dust that blew out of that thing!!! It was better than a smoke machine! LOL Here's to hoping you guys can come up with something! I will do what I can to get the word out if they decide to try again. All you have to do is ask.
  14. well, at least from the ciggies! Smoke free since Feb 12th! Sober since..errr......about 3 hours after I woke up today!
  15. Had a few of the cold ones last nite at the meeting, didn't ya? Nick and I bought stock in LaBlue, 27 out of 28, eh? Not too shabby for a couple of reformed smokers and alkies!
  16. Just spoke with arranger, and he said reprise of mod #2 measures 50-84 WILL be repeated in the finale....maybe 3 or 4 times. Or did he say they were cutting measures 50-84? Or, am I hallucinating from lack of nicotine????? Find out Sunday! Sorry, I will be back on the road, so have fun!
  17. Funny????? OMG, Try hysterical!!! Mary and I were right in front of him and I, being in total shock, missed stepping off and ended up with Joe's snare in my Arse. That is a moment I will NEVER forget! Mark Time... Flop! In one swift motion the teeth came out, he caught them and shoved them right back in his mouth. Hardly missed a beat...unlike the rest of us! hehehe Oh, this is Shelly again....I hate logging of then back on for ONE comment! LOL
  18. Really stretchin' to keep this on page 1 Nick. You runnin'out of things to say??? Say it ain't so!!!!
  19. Nice to see Brian King's name out there. A solid addition to the staff!
  20. Had a chance to stop by and I gotta tell ya....they got it goin' on! The sops and mellis were really coming together and, though short handed, the low brass section was workin' it! Even though they were obviously fatigued, the last time through the closer was by far the best. Ken gets more and more notes out of these guys every time they play. I was kinda itchin' to play, but Shelly made me leave my horn at home!(j/k honey!) It will be exciting to watch this corps grow and improve, and the finished product will indeed be something to see!
