  1. I totally disagree with your view of BD: Although clean and crisp, their visual program and difficulty is masked by Smoke and mirrors. Crowd appeal is not there...Cavaliers drill design, although not as clean visually is about 50 times more difficult....BD would most likely fall over themselves trying to march a Cavies drill..Way too much park and blow with BD....sorry, just personally do not enjoy BD this year....if the applaud o-meter is any indication of crowd appeal, not too many other fans enjoyed the show either...
  2. I agree that PR has a great show this year, but if they try to march a Cavie type drill, the kids would be falling all over each other. Cavies visual is on an all together different level. PR must give up something visually in order to play the type of show they play. This is why I laugh when I see the G.E. visual scores..It's all opinionated. DCI should consider going to a judging panel that holds up numbers, as in figure skating i.e,...10, 10, 8, 8, 7, 9, etc. what a joke.
  3. Bstar, get a life. the guy is entitled to his opinion. People are laughing at you now...give it up.
  4. This is exactly why DCI will eventually end up scoring the GE captions like figure skating. 10, 7, 9, 9, 6, 5, 8 throwing out the high and low score....The caption is strictly opinionated so why not move in this direction? God, I want to puke
  5. Did you just come out of hibernation? Your statement is ridiculous! "They lack quality and complexity of design and were visually less clean than some others". Quality and complexity of design has nothing to do with visual performance. Visual performance is scored by how well the members carry themselves, marching technique, and cleanliness. Again, my question is, if they were that dirty, WHY did they win visual performance? I'll answer for you. Consistent, opinionated judging! They were either the cleanest corps on the field or they weren't.
  6. Vash, I can tell that you are a rookie. Because of the style of marching that the Cavies have, they are probably the only corps on the field that could do what they do. Most of the other top corps would fall on their face trying to do a Cavies type drill. Believe me, it is very difficult. Other corps marching style are not conducive to a Cavies drill design. Every corps on the field has park and blow spots. Including BD, who does more park and blow than any other corps in the top 5. It really doesn't make any sense to try and play difficult passages when moving at 210 bpm. You have to have give and take if you want to see good visual and hear great brass.
  7. Drum Corps is not Dying! it is becoming huge! Better marketing, better product, more fans! I agree that there could be some changes that would be for the better
  8. wickerbill, I agree with your statement as well. I do not believe that Cavies have any business scoring higher in GE Music than Regiment. Here is the big deal: Your own statement: Every judge, especially in something like GE has their own preferences This is why there needs to be a change.
  9. If the drill was so dirty, why did they win visual performance? You are not making any sense. If your statement is true that "this was the dirtiest the cavies have been drill wise", then my point even has further merit! What are the judges looking at?
  10. Wacko judging strikes again. Although the Cavaliers may not be up to par in brass and drums this year, they definitely should be tops in GE Visual. They have taken this caption all year. I could understand if they marched a dirty show, but they actually won visual performance. They continue to set the bar visually, and until someone steps up to the plate, they should continue to be tops in this caption. Costanza must have put his blinders on for finals....... This opinionated form of judging must be changed! It's not fair to the kids, and it's not fair to the fans! It's almost becoming hilarious watching the way that judges ink their scores. Why don't they just hold up signs after each performance like they do in skating? 9, 9, 10, 8, 6, 9, 8, 7 Here's a toast to the Blue Devils! Here's a toast to a very opinionated GE judge! Congrats BD!
  11. The Blue Devils are the "King" of Park and Blow.
  12. Excellent Quote: Next time you go to a Drum Corps Show, bring your blind fold. What a dumb statement!
  13. Boo Hoo, Boo Hoo, The Cadets lost because BD was the better corps this year. It had absolutely nothing to do with hash marks. If anything, the corps should have had a better performance considering there were fresh hash marks. It's over, stop trying to find excuses.
  14. I agree. They are on a different level when it comes to their visual program. They should be taking G.E. Visual by at least a half point, if not more. Cadets and BD are very, very good, but just not on the same playing field when it comes to G.E. visual. This is why they can withstand several falls and still win the caption.
  15. I agree....Cavies have a great shot at the title.
