  1. We live about 30-40 minutes south of their rehearsal site and it’s still 99 degrees at our house at almost 11:00pm.
  2. Yeah, 105-109 degree outside temps would make it ungodly hot inside a vehicle with no working a/c or open ventilation.
  3. Twenty minutes isn’t really going to make much different, IMO. It’s been staying in the 100’s well after dark on days like this. (It hit 109 at our house today.) I doubt we’ll drop into the 90’s until around 10:00-10:30. Thursday isn’t going to be much better- I’d love to be able to bring in my 64oz tumbler but I get why it’s not allowed. edit: I was wrong, it actually just dipped down to 99 (9:24). Brr.
  4. I’d completely forgotten that about the Troopers. Good on them!
  5. Wow, that’s the latest start time for Regiment in ages. And ever (?) for Mandarins and Troopers. Very cool!
  6. I missed San Antonio in 2019 because I had to go to the ER right before the show. (Like, a couple of hours.) Last year, I was able to see the show but had to go to the ER Sunday morning. I’m reaaally hoping to end that particular streak this year. (Seriously, WTH?) This will also be the first Denton show I’ve been to.
  7. Soundgarden is one of my favorite bands. In 92, my fellow corps mate who stayed with the same housing parent drove us back and forth to rehearsals when the corps was still in Rockford and Badmotorfinger was always in rotation on his car stereo. I still think of those days whenever I hear Rusty Cage or Outshined. Good memories.
  8. Somewhere buried in the alumni FB thread, are pictures I posted from the 91 summer, including our time at Fort Ord. (Over The Rainbow at sunset on the beach was amazing.)
  9. Yeah, I wonder. I noticed the other night it was still 99 at our house at 10:15. I have that day off and thought about going to watch Regiment rehearse in Krum (we used to live there) but I think I may have to pass and just stick with seeing the show.
  10. Once you get into the upper echelon, I just don’t have the knowledge to differentiate who should win over who. I’ve been out of the game a long time and they’re all so #### good that what differentiates one from the other, from a points standpoint, is just hard for me to tell. (Kinda like, once it gets over 100 degrees outside, it’s hard for me to tell the difference between 105 and 110. Hot is hot.) By that point, I’m just thinking, which I did I enjoy the most? (I would be the worst DCI judge ever.)
  11. Mandarins were on the rise before the SCV imploded. I don’t really think one has anything to do with the other.
  12. “Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?”
  13. In ‘92 we did a standstill in a gym and made insulation start falling from the ceiling.
  14. I think it’d be entertaining as hell, but for all the wrong reasons. Like a Vanilla Ice movie.
  15. Today’s weather in DFW doesn’t bode well for the outdoor shows next month on the Texas tour. We’re under an excessive heat warning with highs expected around 106-108 and heat indexes up to 115. Very dangerous for outdoor activity. And it’s only June.
  16. I heard the same and agree. Top 12 (and beyond) is going to be incredibly competitive. Again.
  17. Back when I still had hair. (You may now return to the BD thread…)
  18. Holy hell, I don’t know what’s going on here but I love it. I worked on the Barney crew for three years back in the late 90’s and I’m pretty sure I had a few fever dreams like this.
  19. Sadly, just on the first two pages I noticed a couple that have since passed away- Ggarrett and Michael Boo.
