  1. I’m only about an hour away here in Haslet, but between being discharged from the hospital yesterday and making the drive home from San Antonio, going to my mother-in-law’s funeral today and having to go back to work tomorrow…I just don’t have it in me. But, man, I’d like to see Regiment live one more time! (You should definitely skip out from work early!)
  2. I’m glad I wasn’t sitting next to the *******. That’s all I know to say at this point.
  3. Thanks guys. Hopefully it’s a short stay. Definitely wasn’t expecting an ambulance ride this morning. (But I’m happy I got to see Regiment!)
  4. So I’m beginning to think the SA show is cursed for me. The last time I tried to go, in 2019, I had to be admitted to the hospital on the morning of the contest. (This was the last time I had to go to the hospital, by the way.) Today, once again, I find myself in the hospital. I think I’ll just take my chances with Flo next year.
  5. I’m a brass guy, that knows pretty much jack #### about drumming… but Boston’s drum line really impressed me.
  6. Very proud Regiment alum, here! They sounded amazing live— I felt a lot of sonic love from the Buicks. I really can’t wait to see what they do with that ballad by Indy. SUTA!!!
  7. There’s a slight chance of a storm or two popping up later in the day but they’ll be widely scattered and most die down pretty quickly once the sun goes down.
  8. I got to go with my kids (ages 18 and 20) to see Tool at the AAC in Dallas back in January. That band has a super strict policy forbidding any still or video during their shows. (Except the last song, where Maynard tells everyone they can take their phones out.) There was a lady near my son who got kicked out about a third of the way into the show. (The guy with her stayed in his seat to finish out, LOL.)
  9. My hope is that it’ll at least cool down some before the end of the State Fair.
  10. There’s a slight chance of rain again in the NTX area tomorrow. I think it’s just teasing us now.
  11. Most of the time, the temps in May are pretty decent. But there are higher chances of storms. Some pretty hellacious.
  12. Not surprising. We had it pretty easy last year but this summer sucks. I’d imagine it’s going to affect rehearsals as well.
  13. Hey, we’re in luck. Looks like there’s going to be a bit of a cool down on Thursday. 😅 Unfortunately, it looks like I may not be able to make the Denton show, but at least there’ll be some cooler weather that day. /sarcasm
  14. I was on the giving end of that going into the wedge during a rehearsal Finals week of 94. (At the end of the 360 spin move.) I had braces at the time so my mouthpiece came away bloody.
  15. I sometimes wonder, but at this level, they all seem good to me and I’m so far removed the activity that about all I can really go by with these top corps is my own preferences. (I’m definitely not in tune with the sheets.) Not surprisingly, Regiment is at the top of my list. (Not just out of loyalty, though- I marched there because they were already my favorite.)
  16. Oh, me neither. But I think a big jump is going to be a tough row to hoe, as my grandfather used to say. 🙂
  17. I think performance levels across the board have grown by leaps and bounds in the past decade and it’s become incredibly competitive. I’m just happy in the moment that the corps is finally performing at a high level and has an extremely well liked show. I think they can hopefully start moving up but the other corps aren’t just going to lay down for them.
  18. Last summer was relatively mild. Very few days over 100. This summer… near constant.
  19. Every day that I drive to work, the freeway sign tells me to “limit outdoor activity”
  20. So, with the NWS calling for daily highs in the 100+ range across most of Texas all of next week (Denton is supposed to hit 105 on show day), do you think we’ll see corps performing out of uniform again?
  21. My daughter marched in both the Rose Parade and Macy’s. It was always a low level worry in the back of my mind because both are such high profile events. But the security presence at both was pretty heavy, which helped abate those fears somewhat. In the end, I think you can still be reasonably cautious and try to go on living your life as best you can. At least I try. But I’d be a liar if I said I didn’t think about it a lot more than I used to. Which sucks.
