  1. Blue Stars have some of the best drill of anyone this year. Flows beautifully.
  2. Again with butter fingers Stars guard. Come on folks, hold on to that stuff!
  3. Switch over while you can. This guy will be picking out cars in the parking lot next.
  4. I’m interested to see if they do something based on the current Broadway musical Shucked next year. It’s about corn. If there was ever something custom made for them, you’d think that would be it! 🌽
  5. Stylistically, Colts are like the vanilla ice cream palate cleanser after the previous hot sauce course.
  6. Mandarins!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The visual is SO much cleaner than earlier in the week and....people strapped to the spinny things?! WHAT?????!!!!! 😮
  7. This was the show last year where they started to sell that program as well.
  8. Good run by Bluecoats. I haven’t warmed to the parts where they Cuisinart the poem. It always takes me out of it a bit. Much prefer where they layer complete phrases in and out.
  9. I feel Crown could loosen up a bit. The show has so much dynamic energy in it, but the Sacktig drill moves at a really measured and controlled pace a lot. If they partial broke/dissolved/ran out of the forms at times, it would add visual urgency to match the music. Not to the extent Phantom does, but some.
  10. Phantom has the stuff. It’s developed into a great show. The high energy battle between them and Mandarins will be a lot of fun.
  11. The tarp around the pit helps a lot when they congregate on it. It was a bit of a mob scene there before they added it.
  12. That girl who is all wrapped up in the fabric looks like she is tangled in part of Crown’s show from last year.
  13. Yes, but that was an informal line. When a hard line of medal/no medal was established, it can change the impression from “close to the top,” to “outside the gate.” Regardless of the use In Olympics, etc., etc., it wasn’t present in DCI until it was.
  14. DCI bears some responsibility for creating the monster of impressions when they started the gold-silver-bronze thing. It used to be just the winner got a medal, and being in the “top 5” was a big deal because those corps made the live portion of the PBS broadcast. By creating a line between Bronze and 4th, they devalued 4th in the process, even though we know that can be decided by minuscule fractions of a point. Crankiness was created where there need be none.
  15. Honestly, Crown will be affected by this more than most this year. The round table props have been cluttered by every big logo on every field they’ve been on all season. Especially because the drill forms play off of it at times.
  16. It is remarkable how they’ve been able to take such a well known song and make it...ethereal. I haven’t seen much mention of how they have pairs of horns back-to-back, rotating for part of it. That circular sound they create as they turn likely adds to the effect.
  17. I love Bluecoats guard, but they had tons of errors tonight. More it seemed than Boston and BD, so that’s a surprise.
  18. Design wise: Bloo>Crown>Boston. On the Waterfront is so good that I wish they used it more as a through line throughout the whole program and had a bit less of some of the other stuff.
  19. As intriguing as I find it, there also seems to something missing. I think the balance between octane moments and oddball syncopated sections is perhaps a bit uneven. It really gets going, and then stops.Really gets going, and then stops. Last year the flow was more continuous, even though it went through all sorts of moods/styles.
  20. I find the first third and last third of Cadets very enjoyable. The middle doesn’t hold my interest and seems somewhat disconnected. The props also get abandoned and forgotten during this time. It seems they could somehow be reconnected and involved again for the ending.
  21. The mood is definitely “brooding” for the entire show. Impressive brooding, but a lot of brooding.
  22. Something about the Crown uniforms makes them look small. Perhaps the darkness, long tunics and no hat. At times there is an illusion of less than full membership, which is of course not the case.
  23. I think their design is much stronger than Cavaliers. May have just taken a while to get a handle on performing it.
  24. The drill with wedge triangle and curved line is fantastic with the rapid evolution.
