  1. That's from Godfather III. But, I think Pacino played soprano....probably third.....no range. In any event, yes, best of luck to the Brigs! See you this summer! Peace, Dennis
  2. Rehearsal techniques need to evolve as much as the design, execution and performance aspects of the activity. NFL players are no less tough than they were 30 years ago, but the game and players have changed, so the coaching techniques should adjust accordingly to maintain successes. As far as the original intent of the post........drum corps really screwed my embouchure up, but that was mostly because I was a clarinet player taught by old school bugle players in the basement rest room of a Catholic school on an instrument that would have been used for spare parts on a Chevy Malibu if I was not playing on it! That and the fact that back in the days of symmetrical drill you almost always 'dressed' in one direction, so I cheated my chops to mostly one side! (I happened to be a side 2 guy the first few years on the field......) But I would not trade that 'training' for a minute! There's lots I learned from the old school cats. Always enjoy these threads! Peace, Dennis
  3. Frank, It would be an honor to have you playing something I arranged! I hope I am still around to see it happen! All the best! Peace, Dennis WWPD

  15. Whadda you know? Tuba instructor? You need a degree for that? Love you Dan! Last one to Dino's is a rotten egg!
  16. Coming up through the ranks of the Bridgemen as a young brass player, I was spoiled with the quality of drum corps brass instructors I had. With the likes of Larry Kerchner, Dennis Eshbach (sic), Bob Farrell, Al DiCroce, Paul Harvey, Jim Prime, Ken Turner, Jerry kelsey, John Simpson, John Meehan, Frank Dorritie, Jim McPharland and lastly, but certainly not least, Ray Fallon. (hope I did not miss anyone.......some of those years are...uh.......foggy....to say the least!) Out of all these cats, Ray may have left the most lasting impression as a guy who took over a line (that lots of guys would not deal with) alone for most of the season and turned it into one of the most memorable summers a 16 year old drum corps kid from Bayonne could have! All this while carrying a kid on his shoulders all summer!! The Bridgemen are lucky to have Ray back in the fold. Congrats to them and Ray for making it happen. All the best Ray! Peace, Dennis p.s. Ray, please tell Mercadante to leave his raisins home!
  17. Great choices and I am sure Prime's arrangements will be great! Best of luck in 09! Peace, Dennis
  18. Cozy, Feel better sir! I had the pleasure of meeting Cozy for the first time this season in Rochester. A font of knowledge and quite the interesting cat! Here's to your recovery! Peace, Dennis
