  1. Best of luck to MN Brass in 09! Looking forward to hearing/seeing you again! Peace, Dennis
  2. Thanks for the kind words about the ballad Mike! I am very excited about it!! It's great that the Corps is able to supply that resource for the line on their website so that the members can download their parts and a midi file of the tune even before the first rehearsal! Very cool! By the way, the Opener and Closer are only measures away from being completed as well! Can't wait to start writing the original piece, "El Diablo Rojo", with Gary! Here's to a great 2009! Peace, Dennis
  3. Jay's wish has finally come true! Should be a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing what Key, Steve and Scott do with this one! Good luck! Peace, Dennis
  4. You'd better schedule more than 80 minutes for Jim Dugan's session. It'll take him that long to say hello! Sounds like a great weekend! I hope everyone comes away with good feelings for 2009 and beyond! Good luck! Peace, Dennis
  5. Sounds like a great team with a great show! Best of luck Grennies! Peace, Dennis
  6. I can think of no way I'd rather go than be taken out by beavers.
  7. Well, I'm guessing this was done with 'tongue in cheek"....... Pete's a great brass instructor and, while I am not familiar yet with his arranging, I can bet he will be a great fit for a line he has put together the last several years. That is an advantage in and of itself, knowing exactly for whom/what you are arranging and the strengths and weaknesses of your line. Plus, you gotta take it easy on the guy.........I mean, today's his birthday!
  8. Well, I hope we all get to see the greatest DCA Corps of all time next season!!
  9. I must take a tremendous raincheck. Perhaps in 09.
  10. Well, my first instrument was the clarinet which I played in the 4th grade. I then joined the St. Andrew's Kidets in 1973 as a baritone player (cause they had enough drummers, and I was 'too big' to play the soprano) Ah, the look on my parents faces when I walked in the door with that beautiful Olds piston rotor horn, with no case! My grandmother actually sewed me a case out of a pillow case and some elastic! Believe it or not! The rest is history!
  11. Thought the brassline played very musically and had a terrific quality of sound! Best of luck in 09! Peace, Dennis
  12. We had Gustav and Hanna.......now here comes Ike! What's next?? Jamey, Jeff, Jim, John and Laurie??
  13. Cozy, Pleasure to finally meet you Finals night! Best of luck with the guitar lessons! Looking forward to reading your journalistic impressions of the Rochester weekend! Peace, Dennis
  14. Yeah, I was talking weather. I just assumed it was a deluge. Never mind.
  15. This is all my fault. Dave drove me to Rochester and he and I watched nearly all of Prelims together. Hannigan is right Dave! I apologize............. Really though, I enjoyed reading his review, especially since I know Dave to be a very talented performer who is very critical and analytical of himself and others and this was the first time he had ever watched this many Corps in a row for Prelims. I personally thought everybody had some really cool ideas in their show and watching Prelims (this is only the second time I have ever done that!) is becoming a favorite drum corps pasttime for me!! I strongly recommend it! By the way, my personal favorite moment was MN Brass' rendition of "Wrapped Around My Finger." Very creative and cool! Here's looking ahead to an amazing 2009 for DCA!! Who knows what's gonna happen!!!!! Peace, Dennis
  16. Hey Guys! Where are you? No word for a while! Hope you are all well and enjoying Rochester by now! See you Saturday! Peace, Dennis
