  1. I have been a Drum Corps fan for many years and I have become a huge fan of the Mini Corps movement, something that baffles me even more than using music stands in competition is " Why has Mass Brass not been invited to the Saturday night show in Plymouth?" They are one of the premier Mini Corps in the country and to not be invited to a show rite in your own backyard is a travesty. Does anyone know the reason why? It's got to be political!
  2. I heard that my favorite mini corps Mass Brass was playing so many notes they needed music stands! Any truth to that rumor?
  3. I'm back in the states and catching up on the goings on in the Mini Corps world and one of my contacts I have in this genre informed me that the great Ritchie Price has shown an interest in playing with the Mass Brass mini corps out of Boston. Can somebody please confirm or deny this information?
  4. Sorry if I offended anyone, it was mean't to be " tongue in cheek". I figured the thread had run it's course and the Erie group was responding the most, so hence the Erie quip. Boy are you people sensitive, plus I wouldn't know how to close the thread anyhow!
  5. Due to too many Erie posts on this thread, I am now officially closing the thread!
  6. I, Lt. Negro, happen to be an avid Drum Corps fan, unfortunately I travel around the world quite a bit and I am not in tune to what is happening in the Drum Corps scene. When I am home (once every couple of months) I try to catch up on what's going on. I've been following this mini corps explosion and had been able to watch the DCA mini corps event this year, (Labor Day weekend I actually have time off) I noticed that a couple of groups had music stands and only inquired if there were any ruling for or against their use because of the rumblings of a couple of years ago. That's all, no harm, no foul. Nothing to get mad about DonnyMusic. Lastly, there was never a reply because no one asked me a question, the thread took on a life of its own!
  7. Why does MCA or DCA for that matter allow music stands in performances? I can't ever remember a Drum Corps bringing stands on the field, why does mini corps allow it? It looks like a band to me. Is it fair that one group is memorizing and another doesn't have to? I know this subject has been knocked around a few times, but why hasn't anything been done about it? Just wondering while I have nothing to do right now with no MIni Corps to listen to...
  8. Some of you guys did look a little worn, but there was enough young blood to pull it off if that's your intention?!?
  9. Was watching the Night before the 4th of July parade in Randolph Tue nite, and saw Mass Brass, they had over 30 horns and at least a dozen drummers and a smattering of Color Guard. Are they going into Div 2 DCA? Tried asking some of their members, but they were very tight lipped and would not give me an accurate response. What's up? Does anybody know?
  10. Only an opinion, Minne had the best soloists, Renegades had the hardest charts, Mass Brass had the best overall sound and probably the cleanest performance. Just an opinion of course, Ive been away from Drum Corps for a while and I thought the whole show was outstanding!
  11. I read a post earlier where a poster mentioned MCA while talking about mini corps, and later was corrected to DCA. I know who DCA is but who is MCA?
  12. I was watching the mini-corps show the other night and noticed some units with music stands. Is this an unfair advantage? Is this Drum Corps or Orchestras? I'm not sure if the rules allow it, but I was under the impression that mini corps were basically under the same guidelines as regular drum corps? Why should the Renegades and Mass Brass and most everyone else for that matter prepare and memorize their parts and a group such as Minn Brass ( an incredibly talented group I might add) be able to play off sheet music, which in my mind eliminates a lot of room for error. This was supposed to be a competitive venue, Ive never been to a competitive Drum Corps show where a Corps took stands onto the field. Is there any rule for this?
