  1. Next rehearsal: March 3 from noon to 4pm. Abington Senior Center 441 Summer St. Abington, MA Rehearsals: one Sunday a month Limited performance schedule Plenty of social time (to embellish the good old days!) The way alumni corps should be! Come on down for good time!
  2. Defenders' Open House January 13, 2013 Noon to 4pm Abington Senior Center 441 Summer St. Abington, MA The Defenders Drum & Bugle Corps has just concluded an incredible season. Now you too can be part of the newest and fastest growing drum corps in Massachusetts. We have a very minimal rehearsal schedule, one Sunday a month, and a small but fun filled performance commitment. We have openings in all sections Many New England drum corps are already represented in the Defenders. Great people, great organization, great music! Come join us for the new year!
  3. Does anyone have a review of the Plymouth show? As a participant I didn't get to see very much. Thanks
  4. We're looking for people from Connecticut. We have have members from the other 5 New England states! Just once a month makes the travel less of a hardship! Come On Down, Steve
  5. We're always looking for people who want to be part of the fun. Great bunch of people!
  6. They called me "The Saint" because I looked like a young Roger Moore!
  7. Thanks for remembering Mike. It seems like another lifetime ago when I played that solo. Now I'm back teaching the Defenders alumni (and playing too!) We just finished a great season and looking forward to our Open House on Jan. 15. Abington Senior Center 441 Summer St. Abington, MA Noon to 4pm Come on down and join the fun (shameless plug!) Steve "The Saint" Dorgan
  8. Yes Bill, It was a great rehearsal today! The show is done and 2 full corps rehearsals to clean before Plymouth. We're known for our performances, not our spelling! Keep up the good work everyone.
  9. You're so right Bari 1. Rick is a great addition. If you'd like to see Rick, he'll be at the Mass. Drum Corps and Music Educator Hall of Fame. 7 PM at Florian Hall at 55 Hallet St. (Off Gallivan Blvd.) Dorchester, MA 02124 Hope to see you all there, Steve
  10. The Defenders Alumni Corps is delighted to announce the addition of Rick Connor to the brass staff, as a consultant. Rick brings his vast knowledge to an already fine staff. His experience spans (you fill in the number) decades! After Rick aged out of the Cambridge Caballeros, he taught and wrote for many corps (and bands). The list includes The Valley-Aires, The Reveries, St. Williams Band, St. Mary’s (Beverly) Cardinals, North Star and more. Rick is known as a music judge with a keen ear and a keener wit! The Defenders will benefit greatly from the addition of Rick Connor. Welcome Rick, as a musician and a friend. Steve Dorgan Brass Caption Head Defenders Alumni Corps
  11. Defenders are on at about 4:00 - Check it out!
  12. The Defenders are also proud to announce the addition of Gil Lapointe to the brass staff. He is the high school band director at Lynn High School. He's also worked with many drum & bugle corps and high school marching bands in our area. He played contra bass for me in the 1985 & 1986 D.C.I. Div. 3 champions - The Sancians of Weymouth. Welcome Gil
  13. Funny! I remember the Dream with the 27th Lancers. I'm not saying the fix was in, but when they announced us, they said, "And on the Starting line, the 27th Lancers with a score of..." I can't wait to see the Cabs in Lawrence. Hopefully you can put them over the top. I think it's your turn (6 in a row is enough!) See you in Lawrence, Steve
  14. The Defenders Alumni Corps is proud to announce the addition of UMass Lowell Music Professor Deb Huber to the Brass staff.
