  1. Vanguard (defn.): “a group of people leading the way in new developments or ideas.” Vanguard the investment firm is stuck in the stone ages and not allowing their customers to allocate into the new Bitcoin ETFs that launched last week.
  2. He started on French horn bugle, and he says after switching to trumpet he had the same range today that he had in jr high!
  3. I'm going to Madison, Lisle, Rockford, Whitewater, LaCrosse, Murfreesboro, Atlanta, Winston-Salem, and Indy!
  4. Never came up with that, but OK. A lot of the same notes for sure. I can’t unsee it now 🙂 This might be a stretch but doesn’t much of the song quote Rhapsody in Blue!? It is an original by an alumnus. He may have had such inspiration.
  5. I can still finger Granada Smoothie in my sleep
  6. https://www.drumcorpsplanet.com/forums/index.php?/forum/59-historical-junior-corps-discussions/ My mind went immediately to a “post your photos” thread here that had lots of interesting tidbits
  7. And I was answering before I saw 1992s post! Funny 🙂
  8. 1992 City of Angels. The elegance of With Every Breath I Take always takes my breath away, and leads right into all the subtle (or maybe not so) Malaguena references in Funny. I better go watch it again right now!
  9. Yes it is pretty ridiculous. They gouge both the seller and buyer. I can see a fair profit as they provide the market, but 30% each way?!
  10. We competed with Crossmen a lot in ‘79. Was unbelievable that they didn’t make finals.
  11. They’re only $400-$700 on StubHub for center sections On Saturday 🙂
  12. They may allow the camera (or binoculars) but just not in the bag you’d prefer to carry them.
  13. Plenty of alumni support the corps. The few posters here should not be construed as representing “the alumni”.
  14. Highly recommend the Indiana War Memorial Museum. It's free. Could spend a whole day in there. To keep this on topic they do have various world war era drums and bugles on display.
  15. There was a tie for 12th in 1977 between the Kilts and Garfield Cadets. I was near the Kilts busses when the last score was announced and they knew they were in. Lots of whooping! Now that's a memory this 15 year old didn't think he'd still remember at 61. Interestingly this was same year Bridgemen were DQ'd so they could still fit the remaining finalists on three albums/8-tracks. But we got 13 corps on finals night.
  16. I'm bored out of my mind watching on Flo. But I followed the tour from Broken Arrow to McKinney and witnessed the finest live drum corps I've seen in 47 years. These shows are truly amazing in person. Crown is my favorite followed by Devils, Coats and Boston.
