1982 -- Such a musical breakthrough. I still listen to it.
1984 -- West Side Story. Nuff said. Also, I was there on finals night.
1989 -- Les Mis. It was a show that came so close to coming together. SO CLOSE.
2000 -- Pure showmanship. Kind of reminds me of 1988 Madison Scouts in the amount of raw energy poured into the performance
2002 -- Yes, the narration was annoying. But God, I love Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
2005 -- The Zone: To this day I have no freaking idea what they were trying to do here, but ###### if it didn't work in spades.

Hell, I'm 66 and am told regularly I have the maturity of a 21 y/o. Mind is still young, the bod no so much.
I'm 60, and always tell people that I'm very immature for my age. 🙂

Heh. Did grad school at Penn State; when driving up from Alabama, I never needed a sign to let me know when I crossed from Maryland into PA.

Dunno, but I've always loved that show.

Oh yeah, still listen to them a lot. Back when I used to run (sadly, a LONG time ago) I would use various shows to help me stay on pace. BD 82 was great for when I wanted to end with a flat out sprint.

I always thought if a corp tried to do a Game of Thrones type show PR would be good at that.
Revisit Songs from the Winter Palace but call it "The North Remembers".

BD is really more of a long-term bond at this point--yeah, you'll get a steady return, but there's not a lot of room for growth. A good option to stablize your portfolio just in case.
Bluecoats--Not sure about buying more stock, but am interested in getting high and rewatching their show (and the Blue Stars').
Troopers--like the Troopers, go big or go home.
Mandarins--see above. They just keep swinging for the fences.
Phantom--their show clicked with the audience in a big way, but didn't seem to quite click with the judges. If they can adjustwell, they could have a breakout next year.
Cadets--As retreat showed, those traditional unis are still a big draw.

I am so glad its the devils all the time. Makes the activity so much better to have only one champion. Way to go
I get the sentiment, but BD was just on another level tonight.

As we transition to Bon Iver, Bluecoats do another thing I like - They bring back various musical quotes from other parts of the show. They did this in 2018 after Dry Cleaner From Des Moines.
The interplay between the flugelhorn and the trombone at the start of the ballad is mesmerizing, accentuated by the full corps body movement during this section of the show.
God, I love their 2018 show.

I love the show, but the brass just isn't getting the kind of projection they need from those horns.

Snares and mellophones trading off with one another.
Good GOD, that drum line is so CLEAN. And that move they do with their right hand, even my wife had to pick up her jaw off the floor when she saw that up close, and that was SAN ANTONIO.
Yeah, that was beyond insane

What if you created The Velvet Cadets and parodied past shows? 🙂
