  8. What type of Smartphone do you use? Corps are starting to come out with APPs for smartphone devices mainly iPhones but can get costly for a corps to produce an APP for each platform. Maybe this poll will help develop more APPs for other devices or is it better to develop a mobile website, another way around the APP market entirely.
  9. SCV is great on helping you find housing just like during the summer program. Alot of current members will house people or even alumni. You just need to bring it up when you are audioning and receive a spot in the winter guard. Good luck!!!
  10. UMMM... Santa Clara Vanguard 1989 / 98.8 . Highest score in DCI, stood untouched for 13 years
  11. Vanguard Cadets 2011 Awards Banquet October 2nd more info at SCVanguard.org
  12. from another forum topic - SCV: Sym #5 (totally different approach than Phantom)
  13. Rick South helped out with Vanguard Cadets this past season up until they left for DCI.
  14. WOW! Thats a big error. Not that it's gonna changed rankings, but credit is due where credit is do. The kids deserve it! Here's the link to write DCI.... http://www.dci.org/support/ nothing will happen until people complain.
  15. If SCV were to do Phantom again I would like them to explore the 2004 movie soundtrack. Andrew re-wrote and added some new charts... But on the other hand, i dont think it will ever live up to 88/89.
  16. As much as i would love to see SCV do the bottle dance i just dont see them doing it or a Fiddler show again.. perhaps as a Pre-Show tune or even a instant encore at most.
  17. Drumdad, all I can say it to get involved and get other parents to get involved as Boosters and Board Members and dont let Revolution fold due to this. We cant lose another corps period! Corps have there ups and downs and alot of effort will need to be done to insure that this never happens again for future members. Best Wishes MC
  18. 2012 will be Vanguard's 45th Anniversary. Should they blow off the dust on some old charts and revamp them. What would you like them to do besides Phantom of the Opera or Fiddler? My list is long but recently I keep listening and watching '85: Festive Overture by Dimitri Shostakovich Grover's Corner (from Our Town) by Aaron Copland Tender Land by Aaron Copland The Red Pony by Aaron Copland Very Santa Clara
  19. DCI week wrap up First, You trully demonstrated all the qualities of Vanguard both off and on the field the entire season. Especially in Michigan City when you were awarded 3rd place. I loved how the horn line stayed at parade rest to receive their medals, lined up and marched off the field. Thats how a true champion behaves on the field... I'll just leave it at that. Lucas Oil ... SCVC rocked the house!!! The kids came onto the field with an intense fire. As they set the field an enormous roar "GO SANTA CLARA"!!! came from the mini SCVC block in the stands. After talking to the members after the show we learned that the yell was very loud and pumped the members even more. The corps was introduced and performed yet another stellar performance. The opening chart was loud and energetic and the stands reacted nicely. The drum feature was really well received and fans in the stands kept commenting on all the visuals the corps was doing. My favorite is the ending poses when the brass flip the planks over and Balance themselves on the legs of the planks. The corps then.played my favorite piece the ballet. It was warm and full of emotion and the final release of the last chord from the hornline echoed the stadium like church bells. A beautiful and classic SCV moment. Like the opener, the closer brought it all together and gave it one last push with a new good old drum corps ending that comes across loud and in your face... Electric!!!! What a great performance. Out of the 40 corps performing mixed with Open Class and World Class the corps placed 24th. Edging out 2 World Class corps Pioneer and Jersey Surf and advanced onto the next round of Quarter Finals where they edged out one more World Class Corps, The Cascades and placing 23rd. As an alumni and parent I couldnt be more proud of the corps. What a great season. I'm already excited on what next year will bring. Job well done SCVC!!!
  20. I agree... DCP is not the place for this. This needs to be handled by parents of the members, staff, boosters and board members.
  21. Don't drink the kool aid... I like Madison and all but its nothing to jump out of my seat and go nuts over.
  22. Round 2... SCVC leaving housing site on their way to Lucas Stadium for Prelims. GO SCVC!!!
