  1. For Immediate Release: Addison Shableski and Joshua Jenkins join Trish Trackim and Chris Fontanelle as Drum Majors of the Hawthorne Caballeros. Addison Shableski-Head Drum Major. The Hawthorne Caballeros would like to welcome Addison Shableski to the Head Drum Major podium for the 2015 Season. Addison is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Technology and holds an Associates degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Technology Management. Mr. Shableski is no stranger to the Drum Corps activity. His marching tenure includes Phantom Regiment 2011, The Cadets 2013, as well as the Hawthorne Caballeros in 2009, 2010 and 2012. He has been a Staff Member at the Williamsport Marching Millionaires since 2009. Addison also was on staff for the 2014 version of the Cabs. Addison says, “While taking on the Drum Major role will be a challenge, I am honored to have this position, and hope to continue the great traditions that the Drum Majors before me started.” Returning Drum Majors, Trish Trackim and Chris Fontanelle will join Addison. New to the assistant position for the 2015 season is Mr. Joshua Jenkins. Joshua Jenkins-Assistant Drum Major The Hawthorne Caballeros would like to welcome Joshua Jenkins to The Assistant Drum Major podium for the 2015 Season. “JJ” is attending Ithaca College as a Music Education Major. He is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, as well as the Horn Choir President. Josh is also the President of the Ithaca College Inter-Fraternity Council. Joshua has spent a great deal of time around Drum Corps. He has been a member of the Cabs since 2008. He marched with Carolina Crown in 2013 and 2014, where he was a soloist, as well as the recipient of the 27th Lancers Founders Scholarship. Mr. Jenkins also has worked on staff for the Hackettstown High School Band, The North Warren Marching Band, and is currently the Visual Caption Head for the Vestal High School Band. JJ states, “I am very excited to be returning to the Hawthorne Caballeros this year. I am honored to be able to stand in front of them this season. After what the Cabs did last summer, I cannot wait to see what 2015 will bring.”
  2. For Immediate Announcement The Caballeros would like to announce the return of the entire design team for 2015! Led by program coordinator Clifford Bialkin, the program will feature music by Key Poulan and Rob Ferguson, and will be visually brought to life by visual designer Drew Farmer and colorguard designers Bobbey Biddle and Matt Hurley. The 2015 Hawthorne Caballeros Design Team Key Poulan‐Composer/Brass Arranger Key is a composer and arranger for the marching arts and has written for the world's most famous drum corps including the Santa Clara Vanguard, Glassmen, Spirit of Atlanta, Mandarins, Vanguard Cadets, Spartans, Raiders, Caballeros, Bushwackers, Renegades, Star United, Mass Brass, Juliana (Netherlands), Millennium (Italy), and Brianza (Italy). As the owner of Key Poulan Music (www.keypoulanmusic.com), he has been recognized as the world's most prolific composer in the area of contemporary drum corps and marching band. Key has been involved in Drum Corps International since 1983 and Drum Corps Associates community since 2003. Key has been an active music educator since 1985 with esteemed groups such as Westfield High School (Houston, TX), Clovis High School (Clovis, CA), Buchanan HS (Clovis, CA), Clovis West HS (Fresno, CA), and currently serves as a music clinician at Clovis North HS (Fresno, CA). His concert works have graced the stages of Carnegie Hall and the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival. Key's educational instrumental method program Basics! Basics! Basics! is reaching national acclaim for its clear and simple approach to mastering music fundamentals. Key does workshops around the world and especially loves working with the individuals who play his music. Key resides in Fresno, CA and enjoys his life of being able to create on a daily basis. Rob Ferguson‐ Percussion Composer/Arranger Rob Ferguson is currently the Director and Music Designer for Matrix Percussion, WGI ndependent World percussion ensemble and has been since its inception in 1999. In addition, Rob is a member the design team of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps as the Front Ensemble Arranger and Coordinator. Rob served as the Percussion Coordinator and Percussion Arranger for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps from Toledo, Ohio, from 2008‐2012, and is currently the Percussion Arranger for the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps from Hawthorne, NJ. Rob has served as a percussion representative for the Mideast Performance Association, as a member of the WGI Percussion Advisory Board, and currently serves as the Percussion Education Director for the Ohio Indoor Performance Association. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Music in Music Performance from Kent State University where he studied with Michael Burritt and Ted Rounds. He previously served as adjunct percussion faculty and assistant marching band director at Youngstown State University, and currently is the Percussion and Design Coordinator for Firestone High School and Norton High School bands in Northeast Ohio, and the Program Coordinator for the Central Crossing Marching Band in Grove City, OH. Rob is an active clinician and adjudicator for both the indoor and outdoor marching activities. He has presented clinics on marching percussion, keyboard percussion, arranging, and amplification in the marching activity throughout the U.S. and in Europe including the 2007 PAS convention, and the 2008 Indoor Percussion Europe Championships. Ferguson has performed as a marimba clinician and guest artist with numerous high school and college programs and percussion ensembles. In addition to teaching, Rob is a designer, composer, and consultant for outdoor and indoor marching ensembles throughout the U.S. and abroad. He is the owner of Ferguson Design Solutions, a company providing arrangements, original compositions, consulting, and design resources for marching bands, drum corps, and indoor percussion ensembles in all major arenas of the pageantry arts. Rob currently resides in Cuyahoga Falls, OH with his wife, Kate. Rob is an endorser and clinician for Dynasty USA, Innovative Percussion, the Avedis Zildjian Co., Remo Inc., and Planet Waves. Drew Farmer‐Drill Design Drew Farmer is a full‐time visual designer, consultant, and adjudicator for marching bands, winter guards, indoor percussion ensembles, and Drum Corps throughout the United States. 2014 will mark Drew's fourth year as the Drill Designer for the Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps from Sacramento, California, his second year with the Hawthorne Caballeros from Hawthorne, New Jersey. Drew began his design career in 2003 and has designed full‐time for the last 6 years. In addition to drill design, he has also been a guard designer for multiple boa regional, state finalists, and a WGI Regional champion in 2009. Since 2005, Drew has been a visual designer for Key Poulan Music, working very closely to help develop the drill side of his company. Inspired by some of the best designers in the world, Drew brings an eclectic style of writing due to his involvement in all aspects of the marching arts. Drew is an alumnus of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, where he marched mellophone in 2002 and 2003. Drew holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Murray State University, where he graduated May 2007. He has been a part of many organizations including the Collegiate Music Educator’s National Conference, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Color Guard Association, South East Color Guard Association, Winter Guard International, and Phi Mu Alpha. Drew currently resides in Madison, AL with his wife Kaleigh, and their two dogs Ben and Sammy! To find out more about Drew, visit his website: www.drewfarmer.com Matthew Hurley‐Color Guard Design Matt has a long‐time presence in the drum corps and color guard activity as a performer, designer and instructor. Matt has been a marching member of the Bayonne Bridgemen and Sunrisers, as well as the Conquest and Emerald Marquis Winter Color guards. In addition to his years on the Jersey Surf Drum Corps staff, he is also an instructor with the perennial WGI finalist Black Watch World Class Color Guard. Matt has also instructed and designed with the AMP Winter guard of Camden, NJ, Just Class Color Guard, various high school band programs throughout NJ, PA and OK, and is on the staff with Bridgemen Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps. Bobbey Biddle‐Color Guard Design/Caption Head Bobbey of Philadelphia PA, returns this year as Caption Head and also as one of the Designers of the Caballeros color guard. He is the director of the Colonial School District (PA) color guard program having lead both of his high school and middle school teams to many championship titles over the years. Bobbey also serves on the staff for the legendary Black Watch Indoor World Class colorguard. For the past several years he has served as a designer, technician and consultant for many marching band, drum corps and color guard programs. A seasoned performer, he has marched with groups such as Black Watch, University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band, the Visual Arts Production Company and Apex Winter guard. Bobbey also enjoys teaching musical theater, working major events and productions in the Philadelphia area and volunteering with the Miss America Pageant program. Clifford Bialkin‐Program/Show Coordinator Cliff holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Wilkes College in Wilkes‐Barre, Pa. Having designed and instructed several all‐age and Junior drum and bugle corps for20 years, 2014 marked Mr. Bialkin’s return to All Age drum corp, serving as the program coordinator for the Hawthorne Caballeros. Mr. Bialkin is celebrating his 27th year as an instrumental music teacher in the Ramsey, New Jersey school system, as the Director of Bands at Ramsey High School. His responsibilities include directing the award‐winning Ramsey High School Jazz Ensemble, the “Big Blue” Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Pit Orchestra, as well as supervising and working with all competing groups in the department including the Winter Guard and Winter Percussion. He arranges and collaborates on music performed by all the bands and ensembles on a regular basis. The groups routinely receive top honors in competition and performance both domestically and internationally. The RHS Jazz Ensemble has been a consistent finalist at IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators) festivals throughout New Jersey. In 2010 Mr. Bialkin was selected to be the guest conductor of the CMEA Western Division Jazz Ensemble. In 2003, the Ramsey Jazz Ensemble was selected to be a guest of the Japanese government and the sole representative of the United States at the “All Japan Cultural Arts Festival” held in Fukui, Japan. Recently, the Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble traveled to London, England and Paris France to participate in the 2006/2007 and 2009/2010 and 2013/2014 New Year’s Parade Mr. Bialkin is a founding member of the Musical Arts Conference (MAC), and was on the executive board since the inception of the association, serving in many roles including Co‐ President. His professional associations also include Music Educators of Bergen County, New Jersey Music Education Association, National Association for Music Education, New Jersey International Association for Jazz Educators, and Winter Guard International. He often serves as a clinician/judge for bands in and around the New York metropolitan area as well as internationally. With his limited free time Mr. Bialkin is a freelance trombonist. Mr. Bialkin currently resides in Ramsey, New Jersey with his wife Sabrina (a Caballero Alumni) and his 16 year old son Joshua, who is a trumpet player, and proud member of the Hawthorne Caballeros. May 11th 2013 Brass and Percussion in Hawthorne, NJ This Week we have Guard Auditions The Hawthorne Caballeros will host a brass and percussion camp in Hawthorne, NJ Saturday May 11th 2013 Percussion will meet at Goffle Brook Park on Saturday May 11th 2013. meeting at 8:30 am for a 9:00 rehearsal start. Brass will meet at Kohler Parking Lot on Saturday May 11th and check in is at 8:30 am. Drill rehearsal on Saturday will go until dark. Interested in Marching with the Caballeros?
