This makes complete sense. I hope the DCA board and the Renegades organization can come to a more sensible arrangement here. As for an apology - I think there needs to be a fruitful discussion by the current powers that be within Renegades and the DCA board first about all open issues so they can work it out directly.

Renegades to Europe in 2013
RenegadeBaritone replied to BetoSuave's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
I found this thread this morning - interesting stuff. DCA - if the Renegades had done something truly noteworthy, we all would have heard about it by now. We know how the activity is - it would have happened already. DCE - So - the Renegades have chosen to - in typical Renegade style - turn adversity into opportunity. You must understand, for those of us who have been involved with the organization in the Pre-DCA era, chaos is nothing new. If anything, the commentary now is a near copy of what we saw before we flew the corps across the country to compete in DCA in 2002. It had never been done. It was too costly. The corps will surely fold. The corps didn't know it wasn't supposed to make it - it didn't know any better - so it went anyway. From that time, the Renegades have been an 11-time DCA Finalist. Ok, so flying the corps to Europe seems daunting to many. The corps flies across country every year. It's called normal operating procedure for this corps. There has been an outpouring of support from people such as myself - a person who has not actively been behind the scenes since 2004 - to assist in whatever way we can. For those of you who like options, please choose A) or B) - A) If you think the organization is experienced - The corps is leveraging its 11 years of experience in cross country travel and budgeting to prepare NOW for DCE and make it happen. B) If you think the organization is inexperienced - the corps probably doesn't know they're not supposed to make it - don't know any better - and will make it happen anyway. My parting thought - If there is any corps who can do this sort of thing, it is the San Francisco Renegades, and it will be #### fun to watch. -
I'm not good with this stuff, but I wanted to say it makes me happy to see all the positive comments towards Rich. I'll miss him more than anyone will know.

If you're from Colorado, march in Blue Knights. Don't go out of state. -
Renegades. I'm a homer.

Contact Charles Hargett at Kanstul ASAP. Wonderful man, and your horns will last 5x longer than any other brand. I know, as Renegades have horns 15+ seasons old (some of them anyway) and they still play beautifully. If you have quesitons, PM me.

Sounds very much like a Star Contra. Got any extra kanstul baris? I need one.

3G and build your chops.

I heard we may have to turn some away in the pit this year. The hype for this year is really...unexpected. We're almost out of horns and it's only October... :-/

Thanks for posting this, Randy. I am most likely coming back to march Bari. So is Kimela (I heard second hand). I heard there is a ton of interest for the show. With the new look, I think we're really going to be great. You need to dust off your baritone and come to camp Dec 7. ~T.

Hey Thanks! Sorry I must've missed this change after I responded and before MoMeesa saw and responded to this. The Renegades are an awesome group of individuals. PM me sometime and we'll talk Renegades. Honestly, I would like to keep this conversation general. I didn't start this thread to discuss any particular goal of any particular corps. Hope you don't mind everyone, but there are already sooo many threads based for all the particular corps that I don't think it right. Thanks!

Show design, to me, includes style and theme of music. This poll is to discuss the idea that perhaps that the culture of an organization is key, and that show design does not affect a drum corps in any tangible respect. It may be contended that a corps that does a certain type of show well and is so great at it, a change is never needed, but the show style itself has nothing to go with culture. It may also be contended that a corps may do a very similar show year in and year out, and how is it decided that perhaps a change is in order? How is that change done? Is there a way to know (like quantifiables, as in scores, or membership numbers) or by the tone of the membership?

Interesting. So you think it'd be worth saying "We are considering doing X show. It takes us in the direction of doing an all (fill in your type of genre) show. What do you think?" Playing devil's advocate, could that question be taken negatively by the membership? Would the positive potential be worth any potential negative outcry as to "why even consider this"?
