  1. I had originally heard that they were cancelling it, and just this week had heard that it was back on.
  2. Sorry, Skyliners was the 8th Alumni Corps I saw on the list. Couldn't remember all of them. If this is the entire list, it seems like a much shorter show this year.
  3. Scout House will be there will an all new look. I have heard unofficially that there will be 8 corps in exhibition. Hamburg Kingsmen, Steel City Ambassadors, Reilly Raiders, Scout House, Crusaders Alumni, Bridgemen and Caballeros. Off the top of my head I cant remember who the other 2 names were. I don't believe it was Park City Pride and Toronto Optimists have gone inactive for this season.
  4. Scout House will be at the Marriott Spring Hill Suites (BWI Airport) again this year.
  5. To members of the drum corps community Preston Scout House is turning 75 in 2013 and you’re all invited to help celebrate. Refresh your interest in the activity by marching again, managing, teaching, helping with support services or just enjoying performances There will be some memorable 2013 performances: the Spring Opening show in Preston Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, April 28; the annual Canada Day parade in Preston on July 1; the 4th annual Scout House Invitational Tattoo in Waterloo on Saturday, August 10 featuring Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni, Mighty St. Joe’s Alumni, Les Diplomates du Quebec and other well known groups. Scout House will be completing the season with a performance in the Alumni spectacular at the DCA Championship weekend in Annapolis Maryland. Scout House has revived its commitment to the young people of the community by establishing the Preston Scout House Cadets, for boys and girls from ages 13 to 18. The Cadets drum line made its debut public performance at Kitchener’s Centre in the Square theatre on January 19, during a family concert that included the Scout House Alumni drum line performing on stage. There are probably young people in your family who would enjoy the activity as much as we all did. You may want to do more than just socialize and enjoy performances from the curb or stadium seats during this special year. We invite all men and women with guard, percussion, brass and support group marching music experience to become members of Scout House Alumni Band and bring back to life the great experiences that we all love to reminisce about now. You probably already know some Band members. Scout House Alumni Band now includes more than 100 men and women from 25 communities across Ontario and the U.S who participate in about 25 stage concerts, parades and field shows during a typical year. The parade’s not over yet. We can create a whole new set of memories, in case we ever grow old! Ensemble music rehearsals are held Sunday afternoons at the Preston Knights of Columbus building, 333 Speedsville Road, until mid-May, when outdoor field show practices at the Cambridge Centre Mall begin and continue each Thursday evening until late August. The off-season schedule includes colour guard practice Tuesday evenings, and optional extra music instruction and practice Wednesday evenings. Get your marching shoes out of the closet: we’ve got a spot for you in the line. For more information about Preston Scout House Alumni Band, contact Activities Director Nancy Weiler at telephone (519) 653-3376, email prestonscouthouseband.adm@sympatico.ca or visit the Web site at http://www.scouthouseband.com/
  6. Does anyone know when DCA usually posts the list of corps performing at the Alumni Spectacular. Last year we had 12 corps performing and there were apparently some time issues. I heard rumor that this year DCA is selecting and notifying the corps that will be performing. Could they be going back to 10 corps and have too many alumni corps that want to perform ?. So far I only know of Steel City Ambassadors and ScoutHouse that are attending and I believe St.Joes is not going to Annapolis. Just curious to know what other changes there will be.
  7. I have also heard from a reliable source that they are not folding, they are just going the non competetive route. Apparently they will still have a corps but moving in another direction of some sort. Im thinking this probably ties in with the edge somehow.
  8. They are still active and just did some shows in Ontario including the Scout House show. The brass line is a powerhouse (40 plus in the line ). Im hearing rumor that they cant do the Alumni Spectacular due to having an electronic keyboard, electric guitar and a vocalist in the pit. Im not sure how true that is but that is whats out there. They are very entertaining again this year.
  9. United Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps is currently in the middle of some exciting musical changes and would like you to check us out this Sunday from 1pm to 4pm in Brantford,Ontario at North Park Collegiate. This year United has decided to head in a different musical direction and will eventually be replacing its entire repertoire within the next year or so. The corps’ new program will consist of Birdland, When a man loves a woman, Percussion Feature “Burlesque” and a former 1976 Dutchmen tune “The sun goes by”. All of our new music is concert style numbers composed by our brass instructor George Parkinson and written to raise the musicality bar in the brass line in an entertaining way. Mark Lewis is as well taking the percussion line in a new style direction and is looking to increase the snare and quad lines. George would love to build the lead soprano and baritone sections. United is looking at hosting regular once a month rehearsals in Brantford if we can get the interest from perspective members from Southern Ontario. United is what you would say “Park and Play” style with no drill to be learned and has a moderate parade and show schedule. Please don’t hesitate to check us out in Brantford on Sunday and chat with Mark, George and our members. United would like to build on what we feel are positive changes. United is the place to be. For more information check out the website http://www.unitedalumni.com/

  11. The Guard actually belongs to Northstar youth (formerly know as Dutchboy Drum Corps). The guard does all of the summer Parades and shows with Toronto Optimist.
  12. Thanks for the compiments Keith. It was great to finally put a face to the name when I met you at the parade last year. We should once again have a good size corps again this year although it would be nice to pick up some snare drummers for that weekend. We may only have 2 and one can only do the show.
  13. United Alumni is really looking forward to coming down from Ontario to perform at the Curt Anderson Classic.
  14. United Alumni Drum & Bugle Corps will be making the trip from Southern Ontario for the 2nd year in a row on May 20th to 22nd, 2011. A fun time was had by all last year with great hospitality by the citizens of Buckhannon W.V. Has anyone heard of any other corps that may be performing at the parade or field show?
