  4. If you ever get a good answer to this question ... LET ME KNOW please !!!!
  5. A little background ... i marched with 20th Maine ... they were around from 84-86 as a class A/A-60 corps ... 86 by far the best year we had ... it's a shame there wasn't more coverage of them at that time .. that was my one and only year marching ... lots of "excuses" why i didn't march after that ... but it came down to what happened to us in 86 really made me hesitant to go thru it again . Currently living in AZ .. moving to CO soon... wish there was a Sr corps in that area ... i'd march in a heartbeat . To this day that is the best summer i EVER had. Dave
  6. yes !! that IS the 20th Maine ... 1986 A/A-60 prelims in Madison .. our opening formation nice to finally see a pic .. been lookin for YEARS ... THANK YOU !!!!!!
  7. hey Josh .... nice to meet you . I was a member of 20th in 86 and Craig is right .. it was a wild ride that year .. not sure who your mom is but it's possible she may know me ... i played baritone that year and got into the corps late.... we moved from outside of atlanta to maine early that summer .. i only had 2 weeks to learn the show and a new instrument before we went to NC for the next show ... what a blast that was . hope to hear back soon
  8. nice to see someone else who remembers 20th Maine... not a long history (3 years) but could have been big
  9. Nice to see such lively discussion of Arizona corps. I am new to the state, living in Phoenix now, and a veteran of one wonderful summer marching class a/a-60 (think I just aged myself) . In 86, I marched with the 20th Maine Regiment and played baritone. That summer is still the best one of my life. Hard to believe it's been over 20 years now.... so sad we had to fold in 87. The 20th is discussed at length in a few of the other forums, so i won't rehash it all here. I was wondering however, if anyone thinks a senior corps would be viable in the greater phoenix area ? or simply an alumni cirps or organization ? Has anyone thought about this subject ? I would love to get actively involved in corps again, even thought i'm a lot older and way more broken down. :P If anyone has any ideas or info on the subject. please feel free to respond. Thank you Dave Ham

  17. 1986.... I have the FInals DVD and usually watch it about once a week. AND....... just for fun... I'm gona open a can of worms here...... This is how I think the top 12 SHOULD have been.... 12. 27th Lancers 11. Velvet Knights 10. Sky Ryders 9. Phantom Regiment 8. Star of Indiana 7. Madison Scouts 6. Spirit of Atlanta 5. Garfield Cadets ^0^ 4. Suncoast Sound 3. Cavaliers 2. Blue Devils 1. Santa Clara Vanguard I personally think SCV had a much better closer, though BD did have a great show. Now I sit back and await the hammerings :) ^0^ And yes, I was there in Madison the whole week. Still the best summer of my life
  18. Star 27 Bridgemen VK Avant Garde and for sentimental reasons.... 20th Maine Regiment........ I'll always have the memories
  19. Come to think of it... near as I can recall after 20 years.... that was the best score we had all year......
  20. My first performance with the corps.....June 28 1986 Camden DE ... only class A corps to perform that night... course we finished dead last. My Last show with the corps... 1986 Open Prelims in Madison..... we finished next to last. We finished 4th in class A that year at FInals. STILL the greatest summer of my life.
  21. I checked the sCORPSboard, and we're not even listed. I vaguely remember the show.. I had broken my toe about 2 days before then and had to stand endzone for it.......... SUCKED. Limped through Finals at Madison, though. I wasn't going to miss that. Dave
  22. That wouuld be the June 14th show.... where i was introoduced to the 20th Maine. We had just moved from Georgia, where i had hoped to march with Spirit. I didn't make the cut, but 20th had an opening in the baritone line... which by the way I had NEVER played before, having played tuba for 4 years at that time. I essentially joined the corps at that show. First rehearsel was the following tuesday, where I was informed I had 2 weeks to learn 4 songs on a new instrument AND the entire drill. Well, needless to say it wasn't easy, but I did it and man.... STILL one of the hardest things I've ever done. And on a side note to Craig... I have to confess I NEVER learned how to read the sheet music that year..... I did it all by ear and watching others. :) :P B)
  23. what and where was this show ?? i was in 20th maine.... lol and don't remember..... HEEEEEEEELP !!!! Dave
  24. Well... since we're talking acts of god here.... maybe someone wil have ANY recordings of 20th Maine Regiment from 86..... And... just in case.... anyone who knows of ANY pictures still in existence.... hehehehe Keeping my fingers crossed.... Dave
