  1. Regarding asymmetrical drill, Pete Emmons introduced it in 70s with SCV. Great guy that is a wealth of drum corps history! If you're able to run into him on the road with BD, you could probably get a few minutes to sit down and discuss it with him. Good luck with the your research! https://www.dci.org/static/pete-emmons-dci-hall-of-fame

  3. It still amazes me that we had piano, saxophone and bassoon players in that line. I have taught and still teach the best horn lines in DCI and, these days, kids have to practically be masters on their brass instrument to have a chance to make the line.
  4. From wikipedia..."the first part of the work would be called "The Kiss of the Earth", and would consist of games and ritual dances interrupted by a procession of sages, culminating in a frenzied dance as the people embraced the spring. Part Two, "The Sacrifice", would have a darker aspect; secret night games of maidens, leading to the choice of one for sacrifice and her eventual dance to the death before the sages". The "re-write of spring" music was taken directly from Darryl Brenzel's jazz arrangements of the Rite of Spring. -- http://www.amazon.com/The-Rewrite-Spring-Darryl-Brenzel/dp/B008DXI2R4 Enjoy.
  5. Search Youtube for "Be Italian"+Fergie and you'll find the inspiration source...
  6. Also, back in the late-80s, early 90s, a bunch of us UT alums went to a little town in Indiana to march. ;-)
  7. The 2004 show used some music from Blood on the Fields even though it wasn't credited on this page: http://www.bluedevils.org/tty/index.php?ye...&programID= ;-)
  8. Yep, I remember hanging out with members of CB after a couple of shows, specifically the Massilon show. Chuck Daellenbach hung out with us (contras) until we were ready to roll that night. I just thought it was a really cool gesture by some famous fans...then it all made sense at the banquet....
  9. I was waiting for that, because I was thinking the same thing. ;-)
