  2. It still amazes me that we had piano, saxophone and bassoon players in that line. I have taught and still teach the best horn lines in DCI and, these days, kids have to practically be masters on their brass instrument to have a chance to make the line.
  3. From wikipedia..."the first part of the work would be called "The Kiss of the Earth", and would consist of games and ritual dances interrupted by a procession of sages, culminating in a frenzied dance as the people embraced the spring. Part Two, "The Sacrifice", would have a darker aspect; secret night games of maidens, leading to the choice of one for sacrifice and her eventual dance to the death before the sages". The "re-write of spring" music was taken directly from Darryl Brenzel's jazz arrangements of the Rite of Spring. -- http://www.amazon.com/The-Rewrite-Spring-Darryl-Brenzel/dp/B008DXI2R4 Enjoy.
  4. Search Youtube for "Be Italian"+Fergie and you'll find the inspiration source...
  5. Also, back in the late-80s, early 90s, a bunch of us UT alums went to a little town in Indiana to march. ;-)
  6. The 2004 show used some music from Blood on the Fields even though it wasn't credited on this page: http://www.bluedevils.org/tty/index.php?ye...&programID= ;-)
  7. Yep, I remember hanging out with members of CB after a couple of shows, specifically the Massilon show. Chuck Daellenbach hung out with us (contras) until we were ready to roll that night. I just thought it was a really cool gesture by some famous fans...then it all made sense at the banquet....
  8. I was waiting for that, because I was thinking the same thing. ;-)
  9. There are also Days Inn, Amerisuites, and other economical choices downtown within walking distance to the Dome.
  10. Forget the World of Coke...get tickets for the GA Aquarium. It's definitely not to be missed and it's walking distance from the GA Dome. pedalC
  11. '93 Star...wow, could we finally win something? ;-)
  12. I'll second Ben...we didn't lose a show all season in field visual - finals night we were 4th! Todd Ryan is still peeved. ;-) Sour grapes, indeed.
  13. Hey Rutt, When are you going to update your blog? What's life been like on the road?
  14. You might want to pay a little better attention to the drill BD's contras are having to march. I marched in the '93 Star contra line, but I don't think I would have been able to hang with these guys. As for my favs, excuse my prejudice, any of the contra lines in a Donnie Van Doren brassline (Cadets, Star...soon Crown and Blue Stars) seem to have a presence unlike any other. Contras like tubas should be felt, not heard.
  15. Has anyone taken the time to research the resumes of the current Crown brass staff? Your research might void this topic... B)
