  1. AOL chat room : drumcorps alternative to that embedded thinger ---- mike
  2. They don't actually play the last minute, just march and air-valve/air-stick the show. The audio is pit+vocalist. Pretty cool effect actually.
  3. A big "Your Welcome!!" to all the thank you's!! I wish I could make more shows but between swim meets and band camps I don't think we get to see anyone 'til finals . The vocalist was wearing heels and a dress last night. Have no idea what her final costume will be but you gotta love DCP -- discussing FOOTWEAR <lol>! The Cadets unis are not double-sided so much aa contrasting. It is a much cleaner look and they use the color change well (for example when the battery exits down the 50 during the transition to the ballad). No one mentioned the start of the show where perform air-valve/air-drum last years closers with pit/vocals doing History Repeating. Innovative, effective and really fun. oh yeah... win em ecks
  4. That happened during the final run at practice today? I saw her being attended to but didnt see what happened (we were on side 1 and I think she was way over on side 2. What happened?
  5. As usual my daughter took a pile of photos at Gettysburg. Uploaded them to a Photobucket Album this time so maybe they will remain viewable for a time. If you liked last years Cadets, you're gonna love this years show. I came prepared to like the voice and to tell you the truth, it was less effective as part of the show then as part of the recordings. I didn't know *why* she was out there at all. Musically it works ; the addition of voice into the brass texture is (at times) spine-tingling good. As part of the show design -- well its really early I guess. OTOH the Alice soloist is great -- cant wait to see the show with props, guard unis, and show flags. The stick trick in the snares is awesome. Sequential sabre tosses off the benches also good moment. Definitely gonna a good year for the Cadets. Xmen -- Holy Moly Batman! I was *really* dissapointed by the show given to the Xmen last year. They came to Gettysburg (visually) a total mess. THIS YEAR they look like they have a finalist show that remains very crowd friendly. Kids looked miles ahead in their training compared to last year as well. Kudos to the staff and YEA for doing a great job off-season. Radio section is lots of fun. You can tell the ensemble flag stuff is gonna be cool. And (for the nth year in a row) the crossmen have a beautiful ballad. Gonna be just gorgeous. ---- mike
  6. They don't actually use the mics very much in the show. And the scat is not singing *or* narration<g>! Another interesting thing they did with the electronics during the "extra stuff" after the show was give the guard a CD soundtrack to which they performed some dance and equipment work. Kind of like WGI but on a football field. I thought it was nice to see the guard get some acknowledgment in this way. Don't know whether this will be part of their standard "victory concert" routine or not.
  7. Hope you're right and I do realize the show will improve dramatically. And I've been to Gettysburg every year the Cadets/Xmen have been going there so I'm prepared for early season shows. I was just bowled over by the difference between the two corps this year.
  8. Did anyone notice the really cool mirror-image rifle and sabre work? Amazing work for this early in the season. Can't wait to see the guard in uniform and with show flags as well.
  9. The Xmen sure looked like team-b tonight. The difference was staggering.
