  1. I have an excellent 3V Kanstul alto for sale, $300. PM if interested.
  2. I was told there was also a medical emergency a few years ago in the Plymouth parade. I heard it was one of the drum corps members.
  3. We had a deal and set up this past Saturday. We were last in the parade at a local college's homecoming and when we got to the reviewing stand, which was 200 yards from the start, we stopped and played 3 songs and the DS until the parade came back around to us then we led the parade back to the beginning. Great for us alumni corps folks to NOT have to march 1 1/2 miles in a circle and just stop and play. Fun gig with all the co-eds, fraternity and sorority floats and dancers.
  4. Hi Sam, The Matadors were a DCA senior corps from Providence, RI. Some pretty famous people played with them most notably, Jim Centerino and Richie Price.
  5. Fran you'll have a great time. It's a very electric environment. The right combination of acoustics and intimacy. It's so different than seeing a stage type show.
  6. Sent you a PM. I have a couple of very nice Kanstul 3V alto horns for sale.
  7. Yea that year many people thought Kingsmen or Boston were going to get in. No one would have been made if either did. Kingsmen I think almost got in when Bridgemen almost got DQd.
  8. Also Rielly, Park City, Diplomats from Canada and Westchester Brassmen.
  9. Allentown does have a place in amny people's hearts but one of the biggest attractions is it is outdoors. So many big shows now are in domes, it's just not the same.
  10. Here is a picture of Butch Anderson from Sky. I seem to remember a story that Butch was suppose to go to Cabs and Jim Russo was suppose to go to Sky. 1973 I think. Anyone have the real story?
  11. I'll check with his son and get back to you.
  12. so I assume a corps had to go to DCI prelims? If so, then Watkins Glen Squires. Good quality corps would have not been a flash in the pan if they had made it IMO.
  13. Seems now a days they all have the same size. Not in 1981.
  14. I think Gold was a HS as well. Some bands are just brass, does that make them drum corps? Some bands have incredible work ethic and are very good. Some, not a lot but some, would beat many drum corps. In fact, if some of those top bands were together as long as drum corps they would be very dangerous. Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of B flat horns, but we are closer to being bands than we are to a Drum & Bugle Corps. I was also told by more than one person who was in the USMC Drum & Bugle corps that they stay on G bugles so they won't be merged into the USMC band. Just saying......
  15. I'm not sure why the big guy didn't have the biggest cymbals, plus it would have made the people and cymbals go smallest to biggest. Just the visual aspect of my thinking coming out, sorry.
  16. Here's a good shot of Pepe. I posted it on the thread of his name but it belongs here as well.
  17. They are actually from Worcester, MA, about 90 miles west.
  18. Also if you enlarge it there is no valve button and the rotary looks like the spring is gone, it's down and she's not touching it. There is bus partner potential though.
  19. I was flying home last week (September 12) on American Airlines and started thumbing though a book in the seat pocket. On page 6 was this picture in an ad for Clark shoes. It's a bugle, kind of beat up, but I recognized it right away as an old school horn.
  20. 1982 North Star. I think this is prelims. If it is this may be the last show they ever did.
