Who said anything about a conspiracy but, YOU? Nice try hijacker. I simply said that the GOO gets too many points. Besides, I saw them in Round Rock and they were as dirty then as I'm sure they were in INDY. IMO, not deserving of the title as an overall drum and brass corps. It's an insult to the judging system. Now if you want to talk conspiracy, explain the 19.2 they got from Fugget in semis. P.S. Any synth is too much synth.

Took my nieces 11 and 13yr old to the Round Rock show last night, she's going to be playing tuba, and him drums and euphonium at their middle school. DC is not my cup of tea anymore, but it's their future so I wanted them so see what the best players aspire too. Hats off to SCV and Cadets for resembling drum corps. SVC show is really wonderful and IMO was the best production this year. Didn't expect to like Les Mis. Drum line is clearly the best on the field as the placement reflects. If anyone in the SCV camp is listening, please teach them how to cover down, straighten out the exposed lines, and I think it will instantly become a four horse race. I am anti Hopkins, but loved Cadets horn sound and drum line. The familiar music was enjoyable. PR, CAVs and BD came on before them, but Cadets clearly had a more powerful horn sound that the first three didn't. Best use of electronics, SCV and Cadets. Hardly noticed them which is probably why I heard and enjoyed the horn lines. Worst use of electronics, everybody else, especially BD miking the soloists, Crowns singing and narration(a huge distraction) and Coats LAYING on the bass synth the whole show YUK! I was booing in the end.

SCV beat BD in 99,02,04,07, Cadets in 11. It's easy to check on Corpreps.com

Julian, It took balls to write your letter and hang it out there for everyone to see. I agree with your assessment completely, though for me it's not about one corps, rather the activity as a whole. I bailed out after 2003 for pretty much the same reasons, even though most of the turn offs(synths, etc.)weren't even being used yet, I could see that they were coming. The directors used very liberal wording when proposing their changes intentionally to allow the overuse of electronics, all the while pretending it was ONLY so the pit players could be heard without hurting their hands. We now know that it was just a ruse. I want to comment to one thing and that is your describing drum and bugle corps as DCI. What you call DCI was once known simply as drum and bugle corps. DCI has blurred that line ever since Don Pesceone retired and it ruined drum and bugle corps. Long live drum corps.............oh wait, never mind.

Not much different than sitting through today's top 12 groups. And even that is borderline. It might even be down to 6-8 watchable shows and they are not necessarily the top three or four.

None of which have anything to do with the sound and excitement put on the field by those Corps that are being trashed. Everything being relative, they were the Avant Guard of their time.

They can trash all they want. Today's groups are DCINO's. They will never know the true joy.
