  1. Did you see the show? If you did, you could never make that statement. I have seen shows for almost 40 years and have never (even to this day) seen a better executed show. They were a machine. I still get "goosebumps" and tear up when I think about that show. I seriously cry whenever I hear the last notes of the show as this was the last time they would ever be heard on a competitive drum corps field.
  2. He is the only one who can answer that. I actually like George's devotion to his corps and have told him this. In this situation though, he made a bad call. He should have understood the feelings in the crowd and decided not to press their buttons. He knew what the popular feeling was and still made the choice. It was the wrong call.
  3. You left out the Blue Devils! They never get blamed by the anti-progressive crowd and they are always at the forefront of change.
  4. You obviously weren't there. This was a live telecast. I've seen them practice without hashmarks. Enough said.
  5. It must be a DCI conspiracy!!! They are trying to cheat you!!! Just don't buy them......geez.....
  6. That is a shock as you criticize DCI continually. If DCA is so great, why waste your time on the DCI forum? There is a DCA forum. DCI needs support. So many of the DCI detractors have failed to realize that DCI is not some controlling entity that RUNS DCI class corps. DCI IS THE CORPS!!!!!! If you pull your support, you are pulling it from the corps. If you criticise DCI, you are criticizing the corps themselves. The CORPS made the decision to move to Indy and LOS. This will not change. They are clearly trying to improve the situation. They are being more tranparent than ever. Look at the new column by Bob Jacobs. Lets work with them and continue to support them. If you can't do this, please just stay with DCA. Do you think I am happy with LOS? I am not, but I re-upped my Friends of DCI membership even though I didn't have the money. I would be there even if the sound degraded next year. All of us need to support the activity....the corps.
  7. The venue will not change. DCI had no option to get out of LOS. The CORPS decided to move there and it was not a decision made lightly. They are working to improve the situation. What do they gain by not doing anything? Remember DCI is the corps, it is not a separate entity! So if you are skeptical about DCI you are really doubting the corps as DCI is the corps!!!!! Corps can adjust to improve the situation. All of this complaining does nothing to fix the situation. If you do not want to spend your money, then don't. Remember when you do this, you hurt the corps, not DCI. Once again: DCI IS THE CORPS!!!!!
  8. Obviously you do not attend many shows. Atlanta and San Antonio are much worst sonically. They are not passing the buck. Why do you think that DCI is releasing all of this info: they are trying to improve the sound quality. Can they? I do not know, but there seems to be a feeling that this is all DCI's fault. This is really short sighted. Couldn't it just be possible that they are really trying? I wish all of the DCA detractors would stay on their side as they can never see anything good about DCI. Some of the people who are commenting have never even been in LOS. How can you even give an opinion? Maybe we should have separate forums: Wait, we do. DCA people: please stay on the DCA side and stop your continuous criticism of DCI. We should be trying to build up the activity and not continuously attack DCI just because you don't like some of their policies. I do not see any DCI people attacking DCA. I wish that DCI would open there own forum on dci.org so DCI people could talk among ourselves and not have this continual attack by the DCA cabal (As if they were the only "pure" drum corps left)! It is unbelievable to me the level of animosity that is present against DCI. Please stay on your DCA forum and let us DCI folks try to actually work out solutions instead of just attacking DCI. They are working on solutions. Let's work with them and keep building up the activity.
  9. I think I will continue on my rant. This is a perfect example of how the circuits could work together. Can the DCA folks see that cooperation could make this situation better for both groups? Instead of being in competition for the ticket dollars, they might even be able to work together to maximize the potential gains that could be reaped by everyone. Bur alas, we shouldn't do this this and align ourselves with the enemy. Let's just blame DCI for all the ills in the drum corps world. That's the ticket! How incredibly stupid!!!!!!!!
  10. Bob, It's hopeless to try and talk to the DCA folks. If you remember the postings in an earlier forum on closer cooperation between DCI and DCA you would see that they are only focused on DCA. They look at DCI as the big bad wolf who is trying to destroy the "purity" of drum corps that ONLY DCA is protecting and they will continue to make statements as Jeff has. It is really unbelievable that this is true, but their comments continue to reinforce this. They blame DCI for everything bad that happens. If a show fails it DCI's fault. If it is sucessful it shows how DCA is growing and is superior to the DCI model. I'm hoping that one day they will see the light, but am very doubtful that they will ever understand.
  11. Here's a request: I'm sure that there are a lot of other people like me: We can go to DCP, but we cannot go to any "music" sites at work. Could you please post the content and not just the link? Copy and paste would be wonderful for all of us that live in the corporate world. Thanks so much!
