  1. Wow, 11 corps for ten spots, what a joke.
  2. You know Scott, you shouldn't even be talking about this situation. You know what you did was one of the most ####ed up things ever. I wont go into it hear but you know what I'm talking about.
  3. I also had not every heard of a Sr. corps called shockwave in the area. There was a JR. Corps called shockwave where all the members ended up quitting because of the director. Are you sure it was a senior corps Jeff because that seems a little weird that they would have the same name and the same situation with the director.
  4. Wow Jeff I did not know that, I went to one of the first Renegades rehearsals with a couple of snare drum friends on our way to a Santana concert. There were only 4 other drummers there besides my friends and I. I did not see all the people from shockwave there but we were only there for a couple of hours so they could have been in other romms around the school.
  5. You will have to stop by the Renegades and say hello. To this day you are still the best percussion teacher I have ever had and I have had quite a few. I at least owe you a beer or two for that.
  6. Hey guys, Scott Johnson does not write the drum book, that would be Dave Glyde. Also don't quote me on this but I don't believe that Wayne writes most of the horn book anymore, that would also be Dave Glyde.
  7. 1988 The Freelancers marched 11. Early in the season one side would play something dirty that the other side had no clue about because there were so many drummers. I remember a picture of six of the snares that year and thinking what a big line that was since the sixth snare on the end was really the center snare of the line.
  8. Maybe they were at the Latin Grammy's but the question was about the AMA performance and those guys were a mix of local LA drummers. I marched with the bottom bass and he does indeed live in the LA area and those were Dynasty drums owned by PC.
  9. It was a mix of local drummers from the LA area and they were using PC's drums.
  10. I never ran a winter guard but I have done a winter drumline. This was some of our costs. $2,000 for school rental in Dayton $16,000 for plane tickets to Dayton $6,000 for a bus in Dayton $10,000 for hotel rooms in Dayton $8,000 for truck rental and fuel to get equipment to Dayton $5,000 for food in Dayton One five day trip to Ohio would cost us almost $50,000. Other cost that I wont go into that much detail about would be school rentals for just about every weekend during the season, insurance, music, STAFF, equipment, transportation, unifoms, and props. Our budget was over $100,000 so I could see a guard spending $80,000.
  11. You do know it wasn't a Renegade that started this thread so I am not sure who you think doesn't look very good. We are not complaining on here at all, we are just drinking a few beers and trying to get some good surfing in before the winter.
  12. Just to be clear here Liz, the Renegades are not on here complaining. The only two responses on here from Renegades are talking about having a good time and a number and placement doesn't mean anything to them. I wasn't able to make it out there with them this year but I know they had a great time and we are already talking about another fun year to come.
  13. I think just the opposite. One of the main reasons for the G-7 is because they don't feel that DCI is working anymore. That DCI loses money and something needs to change in a big way or we will lose this activity. So you are just fueling the fire by not spending money and having DCI make even less money. I think now would be the best time to help DCI and go to as many shows as you can and help them make a profit or the big changes will come and they might not be the ones you want.
  14. Well the first thing to go will be the B and C corps. But the one good thing that they have that a lot of other corps don't have are many sponsors. They don't have to pay for most of their equipment and I know at least one company that not only gives them free product but pays them to use that equipment. I looked at the Jarvis stands they have for the mirrors and thought those had to be very costly. Two days later I find out they are sponsored by Jarvis and got them for free. I knows it's a bummer that another bingo hall is coming in down the street but maybe they should look for another location in another part of the bay.I don't see how they can complain that another business is coming in, it hapens all the time in every business. This Put the Freelancers out of business as a drum corps in 1995 and then finished off the drum line this last season. I know they will figure it out but they will have to make many changes.
