  1. If you click on calendar on SoA website it says location TBD, but IDK what it said for location a few days ago.
  2. In other words, DCI believes the pain from fixing the problem exceeds the pain from ignoring the problem. At some point this will flip. And by that time the pain could easily be fatal to DCI.
  3. Can't say I'm surprised. Is SoA blaming the un-invite on the probation, or on covid? Blaming it on covid could be a convenient way to deflect scrutiny
  4. I'm a biology professor (in a different state) and have to go through same. But there have been cases where I was able to ID that something was going on with a student, and were able to get them aimed at the correct support staff.
  5. The NFL owners hired a commissioner (Goodell) to make & enforce decision that they didn't want to make themselves for the good of the business. The DCI Corps could give DCI, DA, or whomever the authority if they wanted to. If they wanted to.
  6. Somehow I get the feeling that prevention course or not he wouldn’t get away with sexual harassment at home.
  7. I know you come from an IT background so I will bounce this idea off you - perhaps DCI/individual Corps could construct some kind of flow-chart to to guide the reporting process?
  8. What is so hard about teaching teachers to do the right thing? This isn't rocket science - it is basic human decency,
  9. I saw on your Facebook that you are marching elsewhere in 2022. Just a heads up- some Corps don’t want MMs posting on DCP. May want to check Corps handbook.
  10. I just realized a way this could be properly fixed: I wonder if the insurance companies that DCI and the Corps use know about this ongoing problem. As they would get involved if there was a claim against DCI/Corps for damages, they need to be aware so as to appropriately set the cost of the insurance. Perhaps they need to be informed.
  11. Question on current practices: BITD if a member went from one Corps to another after a certain date, the member had to have what was called a 'letter of release' from the Corps they were transferring from. The member couldn't march in competition with the gaining Corps until the release was obtained. Penalty for marching unreleased member was DQ at competition member marched in. So, is there still a similar practice? If the contract is pulled is there a way to keep the member from joining another Corps? It may be easier to keep the member as an alternate/pit equipment mover/prop mover. Or better yet, lets shut down SoA for apparent stupidity in violating common sense member safety and prevention of bullying/sexual assault rules.
  12. If DCI doesn't get a grip on this someone else will. Maybe not this season, perhaps not next. But it will happen & it will be ugly & perhaps the end of the activity.
  13. It is getting to the point where we need a spreadsheet to track all this BS. And that alone is enough reason to shut down SoA. IIRC there is an open class Corps in WI (my bad I don't recall name) that cancelled 2022 over lesser accusations
  14. Where do I apply? I am retired military O-5; I could do this. I used to deal with behavior BS daily.
  15. These are the terms DCI requires of SoA. Aren't these just a rehash of policy put in place after the Hopocalypse? Shouldn't Corps be doing this anyway? The terms of the probation require, among other things, that Spirit of Atlanta: Demonstrate that it can comply with the DCI Code of Conduct in all areas of its operation. Engage an independent third-party consultant to review Spirit of Atlanta’s organizational and training processes, clarify its accountability structure, and create and implement policies and procedures that ensure Spirit of Atlanta’s code of conduct and other policies align with or exceed the requirements of the DCI Code of Conduct. Create a senior leadership position whose principal focus is to ensure that staff, volunteers and performers are provided with a positive working environment and have appropriate training and resources to ensure the health and welfare of all involved.
  16. Compliance officers will need to have authority to kick out offending member, fire offending staff, & if need be shut down the Corps mid-tour. Anything less will be lip service.
  17. Maybe that would be good. I would think Varsity would have the intestinal fortitude to actually penalize or disqualify a Corps that allows members to be repeatedly assaulted.
  18. I marched in the early 1980s & there were rumors about other individuals, some who are/were well known in the activity having inappropriate relationships with members. But I have no first-hand knowledge. If I did I would report it
  19. Yup. I suspect I know who you are referring to - both literally and figuratively
  20. Well, if this turns out to be the case it is yet another slap to the face for all the Corps members (DCI-wide) that have been abused, mentally or physically (including sexually), whether due to Corps management/staff active participation, negligence, or some combination of the two over the last 50 years.
