  1. First off, if a member is raped, as some say they were, then 911 is the immediate and only acceptable response. Law enforcement knows how to deal with this, including medical documentation of the crime, detention of the alleged perp, working with DA, etc. As far as a number to call - DCI has something like that now. Only works if the people on other end are willing to intervene.
  2. I was referring to champions from 2018-on but I see what you mean
  3. Point is that the DoD (& components) Sexual Misconduct training has real-world consequences backing it up.
  4. I saw them in 1980 in Michigan City, where they supposedly broke press-box window glass. (Announcer said after last chord that crack in glass got bigger, & a Drum Corps urban legend was born).
  5. To include the UCMJ, CID/OSI/NCIS, and the Disciplinary Barracks at Ft. Levenworth
  6. Sooner or later lawyers will get involved. Perhaps they already are. I wonder what individual from DCI or Corps will be the first one asked when deposed 'When you knew or reasonably should have known that sexual assaults and harassment was occurring in Corps X, why did you not act so it would never happen again? Why did you not contact Law Enforcement? etc etc etc' There is a point where negligence becomes criminal. It is called criminal negligence.
  7. Well I wouldn't know as there isn't a show within 7-8 hours of here (each way). No contests seen since 2013 when I was visiting my dad for a few days in northern Indiana & I went to open class prelims. But that is a rant for a different day. Or perhaps never if DCI/Corps don't slay the abuse dragon immediately forevermore.
  8. If you look at top 12, there are 7 on the list (inc a world champion) - that is 58%. I have heard rumors about another top-12 that could be on the list but have no first hand info so until someone who does posts I will keep it at 58%. And, by definition we don't know about the ones we don't know about.
  9. I agree w/ ‘Follow the Money’, but a legit question- how much money is there to follow? I can think of a bunch of professions where one could make lots more money than I think exists within Drum Corps. To use a Poppycock term, there’s only so much blood for the pageantry leaches
  10. IDK how you define majority, but since 2018 we have had accusations against: Cadets Pioneer (now inactive) Cavaliers Phantom Crown SoA Crossmen Troopers Blue Devils Mandarins Shadow (inactive in 2022) Battalion Raiders Oregon Crusaders (inactive) Did I forget any? By my math that is 11 of the 42 active Corps listed on DCI.org, or 26%. And these are only the Corps with published allegations. And over 50% (7 of 12) are DCI finalist Corps, including a World Champion.
  11. Opinion requested - do people think DCI Office & individual Corps are reading these threads on DCP & Reddit? Not ‘will they do anything’ - just are they aware of what is happening here (& on Reddit)?
  12. Abuse happened in 2021 as well. The former SoA that started the current discussions marched in 2021.
  13. I fully support what Newseditor44 posted above. A large part of the problem is that Drum Corps is a small community, and the large majority of Corps staff/instructors marched or taught with all the other Corps staff/instructors. It could almost be considered Incestuous. So, they all have each other's backs, and that is part of the problem.
  14. Well, if they can't carve out a livelihood in pageantry, around here (coastal Virginia) there are plenty of job opportunities for fast-food workers. Unfortunately, that could provide them with a new group of potential victims.
  15. Time for an exhumation. The cancer of member abuse will never go away unless a complete and permanent removal of the offenders, dead or alive, whether they are a DCI HOF-member or assistant potato peeler on the food truck are permanently banned from the activity.
  16. Yes, but 'former' from 1982 is different than 'former' from 2021.
  17. Terri - I think I have discovered the ideal job for you. And I am more than semi-serious.
  18. I would suggest keeping it on back burner for now, but get some words ready in case the current piling-on isn't enough to squash this bug.
  19. I would prefer something more like this. But same end result.
  20. I was asking about the resignation of the medical staff, mentioned by the Contra player (who is supporting you).
