  1. [repost from Reddit threads] Driver / Prop guy here. Exactly that happened; at no point during the season was the generator on the performance floor. We needed power to "turn on" the battery devices that power the light posts. That step occurred right at the building entrance: gen on, power on, lights on, gen off, lights stay on. That's it. Nobody thought just having the genset on a prop cart would even catch anyone's eye. In fact, it didn't. You're correct that we passed MANY WGI officials, however the generator was buried under the pile of white posts wouldn't have been seen by anyone under normal circumstances. Clearly once the show was setup and underway, the gen was clear as day tucked in the corner of the performance floor. Hindsight is always 20/20, especially in a breakout year for the group. VC is only 3 years old and hadn't made it out of prelims until this year where we could have finished 2nd. Nobody wants to end the season in soul crushing defeat, however our name is out there now. We'll recover, rebuild, and remain a formidable competitor while enriching the lives of our student performers!
  2. I cannot locate any recent information on the topic. With so much having changed this year for media consumption involving DCI, I'm concerned at the absence of even a fleeting recognition of such products being available this fall for pre-order or otherwise. Did I miss something??
  3. Anyone else having feed problems? Better not going down the OK snafu path again...
  4. Hey @flomarching, why is the peak audio only hitting -24db on my analyzer? It should be approaching -3db. Is this seriously what we're going to get? Do I need to travel with the team and actually give your customers what they are paying for?
  5. Okay. Flo is just trolling us now, right?? No audio AGAIN???
  6. and they just turned it way down. What amateurs. I can't believe we have been reduced to this.
  7. ...and no audio. Thanks again Flo Why did DCI go this route again?? I saw the mic placement and it makes sense why the pit sound is coming from a car speaker...
  8. Agreed on poor sound quality. What is it that we're paying for?
  9. Where is the BASS??? Having listened to the on-demand videos from the Akron show, I enthusiastically awaited the APD's because for the first time in YEARS I was able to hear [and feel] the strike of the front ensemble bass drum. Anyone who has listened to DCI rips for the last 10-15 years and has a good stereo system knows what I'm talking about. I understand that with the addition of the synth in the mid/late 2000's, much of the bass has gone away but please leave something for us that counter silly kids bumping their rap music with some blasting DCI and hard hitting bass that makes us chuckle in their WTF moment as we roll by... [yes, I'm 34 and still blasting DCI on my daily commute] In all seriousness, in the absence of 'drumcat' I don't know that we have a direct line to DCI as we used to, but if your making the APD's and reading this, please consider our request. On another note, it is great to see DCI continuing my request of making a single ZIP file when bundles are purchased instead of one-by-one downloading...
  10. I'm glad to have bought the Semi-Finals APD's. I know there not nearly as refined as the published CD's will be, but at least I have the complete PERFORMED content for my listening enjoyment as well as anyone in a 100 foot radius or so if its nice outside! Anyone remember the days of the Finals CD's being published in a matter of a couple weeks after the season ended? To DCI (because I know you guys read this forum): I wouldn't want to be in your shoes with all the licensing nightmares-- 10 years ago corps weren't using 10 or 15+ different pieces in some sort of derivative fashion; Thank You for the diligence in making due with what you have. EDIT: On an interesting note, all the previous shows of copyright challenged material have been pulled from the entire year of performances on the Fan Network. This isn't okay.
  11. WORKAROUND: When you get to the download page, right-click and “save target as” and manually download them. It’s not as clean as the single hyperlink click method, but still effective. NOTE: It would be very nice if DCI wrapped those into a single downloadable package. Maybe a .zip or .rar file. Michael
  12. …still holding breath for San Antonio APD's too. Streaming them is not necessarily the best way when you live/drive in the sticks... I know the DCI Audio guy is a regular on this board!
  13. I think there is something in the water out there. Really bd?? Edit: from someone who loves bd!
  14. I stopped going to finals every year since they started extorting people by making you "buy-up" for the best access. Anyone remember waiting all night in some hotel lobby to get finals tickets for the next year!?!? Those were the days!!!
  15. From the 8th row in the 50, that was a mean hit! She got on off the field and stayed in bounds but after about 30 seconds she touched her head and came back with a hand full of blood. In many years, I haven't seen such an injury! Only after that point did a staff member help her off the field and to the tunnel (mid-show). There was quite a spot left on the front where she was kneeling. OUCH! I hope she'll be in for the remainder of the season!
  16. <**> So are they going to MAIL out the super 3 (or 5!) ticket packages again so the further away from IL you live, the later you can send in your $$$ for the seats??? <**>
  17. Gone are the days where staying up all night in line guaranteed you the BEST possible seats for the following year. Now, the closer you live to DCI's mailing source (IL), the sooner you can have your return letter postmarked!!! I was livid when I found out about this practice, because the further away you live from DCI, the more you are punished by getting placed down the line for tickets. At least if the regular Super-3 ticket holders get a chance to use an early Ticketmaster access code, geographical undesirables (us that live on the East or West coast) have a better chance at getting great seats...
  18. It's a little late, but I recall 2 very nice motor coaches camped right near the entrance at finals this year. Don't confuse them for the police equipment which also uses a motorhome like apparatus, but these were NICE rigs with Montana plates. On quarters night, there was a kid outside of one playing PS2 or something on the "outside" plasma... I didn't want to bother him, but who were these people?
  19. No, i didnt want to ask. I thought I was already pushing my limit of questions even though she was being very nice to me...
  20. UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Christina; she returned my call and was extremely polite throughout the entire call. I expressed concern on the topics of my previous post, and she diligently answered all of them. Q: Why did you guys change the way tickets are purchased? A: To cut expensives. -Cost of renting a hotel area -Cost of technology to have the computer support and staffing to work it. Q: What about the snail mail time differences and the unfairness to people who live far away? A: We considered the problems, and there is no absolute way to satisfy everyone. So the closer you live to our offices, the better chance you have of getting the best seats. Q: With the letters you sent out, what keeps people from copying the form, that got them first and distributing them to their friends before legitimate priority customers get a chance to return theirs? A: The billing address is verified to people who have purchased super-3 packs in the last 3 years, others are ineligible. Q: In the past, we were able to pick the seats we wanted when be bought the super-3 tickets on quarterfinals, but the letter you sent out says you get the seats you get, no refunds or exchanges. That doesn’t seem reasonable… A: We will do the best to get you the seats you want, and if there is any question, we will contact you. If there is a gross error, we will work our best to rectify the situation. Q: Have you received other feedback from DCI patrons? A: Yes, mostly positive. (darn) Overall the conversation was very strait forward and professional. My questions were answered to complete satisfaction even though they were not the answers I wanted. I hope this post will help.

  22. It’s unfortunate to say, I just received in the mail my "Super-3" ticket package fo 2007 in the mail. You have to reply my mail to get the best seats, buy postmarked date. This is BS. Here’s why: The closer you are to IL, the sooner you have the chance to reply. If you live far away like me, it took 3 days to get the letter. This does NOT reward the people that wait in line at 4am like I do every year to pick the best seats. There is no way they can decipher who the existing super-3 holders are unless they do a name search. Someone can make copies of their form and give it to their friends. You DON'T get to pick your seats, as you do when you wait in line. It says there are no refunds or exchanges on the form, an no place to ask you how many seats you want either. These are all concerns that I have called the DCI ticket manager, Christina (don’t know last name) on this morning in a phone message. No reply yet. Ill be happy to continue updating, but I encourage everyone to call her until they scrap this whole idea, and reward the people who travel to finals every year!!! BTW, the prices are $250 each…
