  1. Does anyone know who has the drum corps rubber duckies?
  2. For sale: Jupiter 1600I XO Professional Series Bb Trumpet (1600IS Silver) I bought this trumpet last year and have decided that I will never play it enough to keep it. I paid $1,836.00 for it but will take $1,600.00 for it. This horn was played only 3 times. It comes with all of the accessories and the case. Purchaser will have to pay for shipping. If you are interested and want to see pictures, please e-mail me at laurasop@yahoo.com. I will only take paypal payments. No checks. Laura Greenwald
  3. I have to say that bus ride was alot easier when I was younger.
  4. Let's see......11 hour bus ride versus 21+ hours. I am thrilled right down to my toes!!!!
  5. Man am I glad I wasn't drinking anything while reading this Fran. I would be buying a new lap top if I had been drinking anything. That was hysterical. Talk about good GE.
  6. Heatwave 1997 - We played at a convention and our job was to follow a guy dressed like Darth Vader around. The funny thing is we didn't know the Darth Vader theme. We only knew the parade tune we used and it was the theme for Star Trek The Next Generation. Very very weird.
  7. That explains the missing marching member and here I was thinking we had left them at a rest area. That also might explain the strange smell coming from the back of the bus. haha OMG John that was by far one of the funniest things I have read in a while.
  8. I believe the Grim Reaper had his own seat and as long as you leave him alone, he won't mess with you......unless it's your time to go.
  9. Jerald....this is one of the many reasons why I love you!!!! You are too freakin funny!!!!
  10. I actually work with a woman that is from the stadium neighborhood originally and she said she is surprised that no one has come out and taken a shot at one of the corps while doing one of these concerts. She said it is one of the worst neighborhoods in Rochester. So I am going to say that I am glad the concerts are not going to happen. Besides.....it also means that we can get back on the buses sooner and get home. It's a long 20+ hour ride home.
  11. It's still getting into the 90's here in Atlanta so your weather is like outside air conditioning to us. BTW.....hurricane is a bad word to me after 2006.
  12. I just love this time of the year. No one knows how anyone is really doing but I still love to see how people do their predictions. I always come back to the prediction thread to see who was the closest after finals is over. I wouldn't even try as I am of course biased.
  13. 2 years in Heat Wave (97 & 98) I joined thanks to DCI being in Orlando 96-98. I had no idea there was a DCA corps in Orlando up until that point. 7 years in CorpsVets (99-2004, 2006) 1 year in Alliance (2005) Combined Total of 10 years. I am on my second year of being the Tour Director for Alliance and I am enjoying management as much as marching.
  14. My favorite moment was the Troopers making finals for the first time since 1986.
  15. Any of the soprano soloists in 83-85 Suncoast Sound. They were all great soprano screamers. This included Don Taylor and John Aguano.
  16. I know I am of the wrong sex but I would have loved to play the 1997 Madison Scouts show Pirates of Lake Mendota. I was at that DCI final show and screamed until I was hoarse. What energy and artistry. IMHO
  17. I remember those patches and they took up most of one sleeve. You could see those patches before you saw the person wearing it.
  18. Hello, Alliance drum and bugle corps in Atlanta Georgia is currently looking for 2 slightly used Bb baritones and 2 slightly used F mellophones. These horns must be Dynasty and in good working order. If you have these instruments or know of someone that does, please feel free to contact me at 404-226-6722. Thanks
  19. On the DCI side......any of the soprano soloists Suncoast Sound had in 1983. Those guys could really blow. John Aguano to name one of them.
  20. For some reason my sister begged my parents to go see the senior drum corps show in Johnstown, NY in 1977 (I can't remember why she wanted to go) The following year we joined our first B class corps.
  21. I have to put my .02 in here. We were sitting there watching prelims and this older guy comes up to our section between corps and proceeds to have a loud conversation through one whole corps performance. After they were done playing, we looked over and nicely asked him if he would please not talk during the performances. His response was that he hadn't seen this person in over 20 years and he was catching up. I then told him that the performers on the field deserved our respect and that he could talk to his friend in between corps or go downstairs and have a conversation. That seemed to shut him up. Some people just don't get it. You would think older people would understand but apparently not. We had the same problem with a kid from the White Sabers and we had to tell him to shut up. These corps don't spend an entire year practicing their butts off so some inconsiderate person can talk through the entire performance. Geez!!!!
