  3. go to madisonscouts.org and click on the "daily schedule" in the upper right corner. M & T in Charleston, IL and W in Waukee, Iowa
  4. Getting ready to head out to Whitewater. If you have a bus that needs to be parked - see me. Diesel Fumes baby!! GO SCOUTS!!
  5. Jim, I thought the exact thing when I saw the Troopers at DOP. I recall at the Scouts annual board meeting last fall that someone asked Chris Komnick if he thought it was a "conflict of interest" that Donnie VanDoren, and Robert W. Smith were going to be working with the Troopers as well as the Scouts. His response was something like "a healthy competitive Troopers is nothing but good for drum corps so I'm all for it". The Troopers were the first drum corps I ever saw back in Eau Claire in 1966 and I have always loved them. And by the way a 8 year old can tell that flag is NOT an authentic American Flag.
  6. Sam Flores Jr. has been with Rennick since the Phantom years and I'd bet he does 99% of the tuning. He was tuning all of the drums back in '76 when we marched together in the Scouts (Fred Sanford's line) and was probably tuning for the Cavies prior to that.
  7. Thanks for all the hard work but if you look at the top of the page DCP has "Scores and Stats" that you can click on then hit ranking and there it is. Might save you some time.
  8. Scouts are at Stroh Center 1535 E. Wooster St BG
  9. There is a dress rehearsal scheduled for 6-18 8 pm in East Troy and 6-20 5pm in Whitewater. We should get a hint then as to any changes.
  10. Daniel S. Veerhusen is his name and there is no one on this planet who loves the Madison Scouts more than Dan. Dan was also one of the DM's in the '06 alumni project. Plenty of 1980 on you tube.
  11. For me it's a toss up between 1975 DCI finals when I marched with the Scouts and 2006 semi-finals with the Scouts Alumni project. Both were WOW moments for me and both crowds went absolutely nuts.
  12. Your last line certainly accents how clueless you are. Talk about being totally out of touch with what it takes and what it means to be a drum corps. The Madison Scouts members that held things together when things were tough like in the late 60's and late 2000's are the Scouts that I most admire. Yes the 75 and 88 corps brought the trophy home but it was the members and the fans who stuck with the Scouts in the lean years that made that happen. 75 years is a great accomplishment. Whether you happen to enjoy shows from this year or that year it is the members and the brotherhood that means so much more than what tunes were played at any given time. A "true" Madison Scout is any member who has put on the uniform and marched on the field. If you don't understand that you don't understand the Madison Scouts. I personally hope I'm still around in 25 years to enjoy their 100th year on the field. Long live the Madison Scouts!
  13. Your Kiltie avatar made me recall that in 1976 Eric ?, the Kilt's DM in 1975, came over to the Scouts and marched tympani for that very reason. He was a very good and very popular DM but didn't really like the spot light and wanted to age out just being a marching member again. I should remember his name but what can I say, I'm old.
  14. My first drum corps experience (a few years before DCI) was in 1966. The Troopers were in town for "Drums On the Chippewa" in Eau Claire and were housed at a church a couple doors down the street from my house. A friend of mine was in the Eau Claire Boys and had been trying to get me to join but I was in little league and knew I couldn't do both. These kids from Casper, Wy were hanging around the neighborhood and just looked like regular kids to me (except for the cowboy boots). I went over when I heard them warming up in the church parking lot and was absolutely blow away - these cowboy kids were F'n incredible. It was that first "blown away by drum corps" moment that we all have had. I joined The Eau Claire Boys that fall and became the American Guard at 11 years old in the "A" corps because they wanted someone small (who could stay in step)so the American Flag would look that much taller. My first "Nationals" was Philly in 1969 - we took 51st out of 63 corps. My next time in Philly was in 1975 marching with the Madison Scouts. My last drum corps experience (40 years after my first) was strapping on a 32" bass drum at the age of 51 in the 2006 Scouts Alumni reunion project.
  15. My memory really isn't that sharp - I just looked in my 1975 Scouts year book. Craig did in fact march tymp all of 1975 but was not from the same family of Beckmans.
  16. 1975 was the year all 5 Beckman brothers marched (Bill aged out in '75). Their mother was also president of the Scouts board of directors that year. She also housed 4 or 5 additional Scouts every year. David went on to be drum major in '81 and Jay aged out in SCV.
  17. The following year in 1973 at least 4 of the Buckeyes joined the Scouts horn line.
  18. I hear camp is a #####! wow I was censored - I hear camp is really difficult.
  19. Chris Tomsa is on here once in a while but I can only come up with 6 corps that he arranged for (Scouts,PR, Glassmen, Colts, 27th and Capital Reg).
  20. The superman patch was from an alumni fundraiser campaign back in 09. They sewed them into the collar of the uniform that year if I remember correctly. If an alumnus donated a certain amount he received a patch. I have mine around here somewhere.
  21. The little green pickup is "on call" and ready.
