Lancerfi sent me this photo and asked that I post it up for her; Mr. & Mrs. George Bonfiglio taken in 1994;
-
My sincere Condolences to the Bonfiglio family as well as the 27th Lancer alumni. George B. was a good man and made many impressions on young individuals back in the day. I'll never forget his speech he gave to us Crossmen members back in the summer of '79. Rest in peace George, and may your spirit live on in drum corps always.

Everything but "some old drum corps photos"
Malibu replied to baja's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
Maltese Cross that was on my hat; A Porcelain doll that my mother (RIP) made for me. She even poured the porcelain, painted it and made the clothes. She also made one for LancerFi... A North Star sticker that was on their hats; -
If You Had to Choose...
Malibu replied to Drum Korps Fan Man's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Well, if you include woodwinds in Drum & Bugle Corps, then obviously the name should be changed to MARCHING BAND, because that's what it would be. Might as well crank out the stupid Trombones while you are at it! I would rather see drum corps DIE than to see MARCHING BANDS compete in the summer AGAIN. It's enough I see it all during the fall. I need a break, something refreshing like.... DRUM & BUGLE CORPS! -
Could the new pre-show rule lead to woodwinds?
Malibu replied to jedihunter80's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
All I have to say is, God I hope not! I want marching band to be different from drum corps and vice versa. -
It's ashamed that so many years aren't even in your Poll! Some very good shows back in the '80s that revolutionized drum corps today! True, the drills didn't have the velocity that corps do today, but hey, it had to start from somewhere and I think the '80s really pushed DCI into the right direction. Don't be so quick to dismiss shows that started what is today.

Cadets new uniform preview from DeMoulin
Malibu replied to bccadet09's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It's looks the same to me.....which is a good thing. I wished some other corps would stick to one design with very little change not to disrupt their style or identity. That's what I like about corps from 30 years ago. Uniforms didn't change so drastically and you knew which corps was who. Simple, but not so outlandish. Just my 2¢ -
While on tour in '81 I acquired a Gerbal.....long story how, anyway, I had her in a cooler under my seat as we went through that customs station at the border. When I got back home, she had babies. Kept her for about 5 years until she died. We too were told not to speak unless spoken to and don't say anything more than yes or no. Geez, you'd think we were rolling into Russia or something.

You guys could figure it out....it's not that hard.

Music from past shows you'd like to hear again
Malibu replied to KeithHall's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
As much as I like Birdland, I do think it's one of those songs that should be put on a shelf and locked in a closet for 20 years. I'd like to see Crossmen bring back Jack Miraculous. We had a good time performing to that. -
Couldn't help myself!

Mike, I marched in '81 too so I know your frustration. I was able to obtain a copy of our finals performance from a staff member who did the video of the corps. However I did find a DVD copy of the prelims performance (high camera angle) of SCV, Cavaliers, Blue Devils, Troopers, 27th Lancers, Crossmen, Bridgemen, Guardsmen, Garfield Cadets and Spirit. Since it was first recorded from a VHS then converted to DVD, it's not the best copy, but it is a RARE copy. Do you have that? It does suck DCI only sells the MidWest version on the Legacy DVDs. I know our show changed so much musically and visually from Whitewater.

I wonder where this baby is today? Did he march?

Poor Jeff! Guys were playing football that day and they jumped on "Sasquatch" but his leg was on on even ground that resulted in a broken bone. We all really felt sorry for him, but was glad to see him standing at attention at the goal line.

I guess Madison feels they need to return to their roots in order to begin a new era? Looking forward to it! -

An Open Letter to George Hopkins
Malibu replied to Jeff Ream's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I have to agree. I haven't really liked a Cadets show since 2000, so good job Hop for making me like your corps this year! -
Quarterfinals on The Big Screen
Malibu replied to Wildabeast's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I've really enjoyed watching this corps evolve and grow. I hope they can stay in the top 3. -
I disagree with "Scouts + Mexico = BAD combination." You obviously forgot their 1995 Spanish show.....BEST MADISON SHOW EVER! As far as this decade, the only show I liked was the Carmen one. The rest were meh.
