Well technically it's called WORLD championships..........so having an international champs is well............. I understand, appreciate that they came the furthest and spent the most money to get to Annapolis, but, the fact is, they didn't put anymore blood or sweat in than any other corps, and having them perform may have bumped out another corps and that's not fair either. Obligatory IMO

Life is too expensive Life being too expensive trickles down to everything we do, including our hobbies. It's an individual decision to participate or not, and it's not DCA or DCI pricing themselves out, it's not like they are walking away with a huge profit (see professional sports). The activity is not absolved of those price increases in everyday living that we are incurring too.

I can't imagine working that hard, all winter/spring to do less shows?

The bulk of a corps rehearsals are in their own hometown, only show day this would be a concern.

First off, it was the Pequa Squaws, and they were defunk before I started marching there, and I started in the late 70's. Nothing degrading with calling a dance troupe a dance troupe, but a guard on the field is not one. They spin equipment, march and yes sometimes add body movements, aka dance. It's called evolution, perhaps you missed a step?

All the people I know from Massapequa have class (ok most of them, or many of them, or some of them )and would never make a condescending comment about any part of a corps.

The point that I've failed to articulate to you is you have NOT SEEN it. You are making comments based on opinion of someone else. Hey, those people may very well be 100% right in the end, but don't say you call it as you see it, when you've seen nothing. Sorry for pointing out the obvious.

The only venomous comments I'm reading are those of being told to expect it, even after being wrong. When you make a prediction,(clearly without inflection) and saying "Expect it" it comes off arrogant, especially when said comments are based on someone else's opinion, not on actual viewing of corps.

Nothing better than pontificating from hearsay and opinion.......without ever seeing said corps in person.

I'd be willing to bet it even happened BITD too. What if someone's job changed, or God forbid an injury or illness. Same issues now were around then, maybe not as frequent, but it had to happen.

Gutted? This subject gets brought up multiple times a year, and some have the same Old (obligatory IMO) answers, it's band, it's not drum corps etc... However, what is never brought into these discussions, is the true essence of the activity, heart, soul, comrarity and family. Isn't that essentially what this is all about, or should be? Sorry you change the instruments to kazoo's for all I care, the day you lose heart is the day it's over. I dare you to go tell those, on the field, sweating, working their tales off, that's it's just "band" now and the appeal of what they are doing it gutted. Go ahead I dare you...........
