  1. I guess, but it "seems" to me these conversations are not just discussion but turn into sanctimonious chest beating of peoples opinions, they try to pontificate as truth, that things were better. In the process completely insulting a generation of those perpetuating the activity, that in itself, we all agree we love. I'm out long enough that I am now part of a BITD, but the thought of saying it just isn't on my radar, not now anyhow. Carry on How bout them Mets...............
  2. BITD = worst acronym ever!!! (obligatory In my honest opinion) I see those letters and my skin crawls....................... This PSA brought to you by, Little Miss Sassy Pants ($1 - Sean Holton - RIP)
  3. Perhaps my point was not articulate enough. I don't see anyone dumping on Renegades unless it's done somewhere else then here perhaps. Questioning a fundraiser is not dumping - obligatory in my opinion. Anyone remember the warm fuzzy reception Holly and Ralph received when starting up Fusion Core? Maybe things are just going full circle.
  4. Who is dumping on Renegades? Also the other day you equated comments to bullying? Really? Something happened, they were suspended, now they made the announcement they are going to Europe, God Bless, have fun and hopefully come back next year. In the meantime, all announcements are still here in DCA section, which is fine, saturate messages all over, but NOTHING, in the international section??? People questioning an organziation when asked to make financial contributions, in extremely hard economic times, when the message was a bit cloudy does not equate being bullied! Come on this is DC, skin has to be a bit thicker. Seems to me, if you're not kissing arse, then you're picking on someone these days. Geez Yeah yeah - same as it ever was right? Whatever.
  5. This, being the anniversary of the passing of one the great legends, I'll go with Cos, James J. Costello, Jr.! Shout out to Louie Storck too, to name a few
  6. Really you want to talk about what they should be called? Speaking from my experience only, uniforms were usually made in house on an extremely tight budget or partially funded by guard members themselves. As well as sewn by members of the guard and some corps members and extended staff, the same would go for the Silks used. In addition, some parts were resused and tweaked.
  7. So? A proposal was made, it didn't pass. Whats your point, do you attend the Congress, have you seen all the proposals that have been written up that never passed since DCA's inception?
  8. Sorta wondering why no hype here International
  9. Who is many, and who actually takes predictions serious before a note has even been played for 2013........... It's going to be a LONG winter...........
  10. That was the point of my original, sarcastic, snarky, response.
  11. Until an official from said organization makes an official announcement, it's still rumor (obligatory IMO)
  12. I think people should talk this to death here on DCP. Make assumptions based on rumor and reading between the lines. Pawn off opinions as fact because your 4th cousin twice removed went to Rochester once and saw a guy at the gas station wearing an Empire Statesmen jacket, never actually had conversation with said guy but did see the jacket so that must mean it's true. Once the horse is dead, dig it up, beat it down at least 158,456 times. Its far easier than actually asking an official of the Empire Statesmen what actually is going on. This is all really getting old now. Pardon me while I go change my cranky pants, but seriously same ol thing................
  13. Sorry I didn't articulate my point clearly. The dynamic of DCA's corps has changed. It has/had to. First off, without allowing younger members the existence of some corps would be no longer. If that comes with the price of having to eliminate drinking during practices or at events, so be it. Drum corps is far more important (obligatory IMO) then having a few drinks. We adults can make provisions to have our cocktails at another time etc...... It does not equate to "catering" to the younger members over the elder statesmen, it equates to keeping drum corps alive. What may have happened in the past, be it turning a blind eye to illegal acts (whatever they may be) is over, that does not just pertain to the DC activity, but everything in society, and as painful as it may be to some, its for the better.
  14. DCA and DCA corps have taking the position that they need to do whatever they can to perpetuate the life of DCA. Lowering the age limit has kept quite a few corps on the field. Which is more important, monitoring underage drinking or keeping the activity going?
  15. My bad - confused because I believe they've did Plymouth (saw reference to that) as well as a few exhibitions at a few DCA shows. Carry on
  16. The Westchester Brassmen are not an alumni corps, but a very good parade corps.
  17. HEY didn't we agree to never reference 1996 again? I kid, I kid, carry on......................
  18. I'm really thinking sometimes this internet that Al Gore invented is the WORST thing for any hobby. Yeah yeah, everyone has opinion.......................problem is, some can't distinguish between opinion and fact. There is NO inflection, people assume tone depending on their own mood. Thin skin Internet muscles It's really all very exhausting......................
  19. People on DCP (as YOU typed) having an opinion of BD that may be negative is just people on DCP - not necessarily people from DCA, the negativity towards BD spans ALL circuits, but nice broad strokes I guess.
  20. As a former DCA marching member, I do not understand what people mean by the corps doesn't pay for DCA weekend. Sure the members pay for their own hotels, but there are still many other upfront costs to the corps in addition to hotels. I also believe any prize or contest money is not paid until after the weekend is complete. So to say it doesn't cost the corps money and/or they receive money that they can allocate other places is not accurate.
  21. Connie Breen and Sal Chimera send their love Blousmen still suck it Phantom Vanguard will continue to kick their Blouse butt DA still has the best penguin walk Someone still plays with too much vibrato!
  22. So inappropriate to make such a comment on the day of finals this year.
  23. The guard score and performance is part of the current score the corps receives EVERY week.
  24. Clearly my point was not articulated properly. I don't agree with the "wait" approach at all, but that one person does not speak for everyone or anyone but themselves. I do not think a guard staff is making the choice to just fill in as the season goes on, there are many variables involved. Not excuses but reasons.
