And turn down that #### synth bass. Semis was ok, but tonight was horrid....all I heard on the ending chord sequence was bass rumble and distortion.
-
Thank you....that is all.

Yeah....that's what I was seeing. Thanks

Wish I'd been able to go....I'm in Phoenix for US fencing nationals -- drove in the 3rd, in fact. However, I was due to -- and did -- compete in Veteran 60 (age range 60-69) men's sabre today, and had I gone to the show I would've done poorly, since we had an 8am start time. Ended up 33rd out of 36, but overall performance was an improvement from DFL in Louisville and ALMOST winning 2 bouts in St Louis. This time I won a pool (1st round) bout and barely lost my direct elimination (2nd round). Overall, I was happy with it. -

Just heard that she passed this morning after a cancer battle. She marched SCV 86-87 and BD 88. Was the first Vanguardian I met in the 07 BD/SCV alum line and always stood next to me in the arc....we hit it off right away. #### it.

82 Cavies (the paiuse in the stepover!) 84 BD (duh) 84 Garfield IF THE CAMERAS HAD STAYED ON THE HIGH SHOT AND CAUGHT IT!! 84 SCV (my all-time fave push) 87 Garfield 90 Star (part of it is the high cam and watching the staff lose it when it locks in...always fun to see) 04 SCV 19 Crown -
One of our sops in 84 doused himself with the stuff at one rehearsal, but it seemed to act more like an attractant, because they ate him alive. He was Canadian....I suppose the bugs thought the Off was a sesoning for all that Canadian bacon....

That was probably hell on the contras!! -
It also doesn't help when show organizers on the Jr side treat the Srs like we have the plague. It doesn't matter if your Sr corps has members with multiple DCI rings...once you enter that world, you're a has-been. Bloody hell...at SoCal Dream's first show in 2006, they didn't even read off our score until AFTER the Jr scores were read, and only THEN, not until after I'd called out loudly and repeatedly for our score to be read -- finally had to go directly to the GE box and demand it from the announcer....anyone who was there probably remembers it, and I am NOT apologetic about it in the least. For &$#@'s sake, we were there! We did the show! We had people in the stands! I got it when Nightfire 96 didn't get one...we were in exhibition only and weren't going to get a score in the first place. But a corps in it's 4th year -- it's third in scored competition -- should not have to DEMAND their score be read...NO corps should have to do that, even if they WERE the only unit in their division that night. I never got called on the carpet for it by the staff...they might've felt the same way, but stepped back while me and my mouth let loose/ Of course....i ALSO won the pool that night re our score!

SoundSport protection training question

I have to go through it for USA Fencing since I'm often event staff in the armory for regional and national events. The raining is a collection of video modules with a test at the end of each. Takes about 90 minutes, as I recall. -
And here it is...enjoy! (TRacer....sorry about the flashback!) — The Prelims Disaster: SCV gives away the title in an astounding lapse in elementary timekeeping. It was raining hard, yes. Back in those days it wasn’t uncommon to have staff carry powerful CB walkie talkies as ours did. We were standing in two lines under cover with Aussies on trying to wait out the rain, and I had the misfortune of being ten feet from a staff member with the radio. GR came on: ”Where ARE you???” Reply: ”We’re at (name of street)....over.” What followed was a banshee shriek from the radio. GR went utterly ballistic on the staff, so much so the one holding the radio turned white. We were supposed to have been at the gate 15 minutes prior, and now we were very very very late. Steve, an ‘82 baritone vet who had participated in the “Run Down the McGill University Ramp” when SCV was late to Prelims in ‘82, broke the silence: “Oh no....oh SH—!! Not AGAIN!!” A lot of us hadn’t marched SCV ‘82 but were in the stands at McGill that year and witnessed that run down the ramp, and we knew what he meant. It meant we were screwed with a capital S. We were still blocks from the gate. No white pants magic to “save” us. Everyone panicked, staff included. We “almost ran” as fast as our equipment allowed (poor contras!) to the gate and were out of breath when we got there. The gates were thrown open and in we went, all pell mell and spooked. I remember being two steps over the back sideline (baris and FHs formed the columns off the 50) when Brandt announced we had one minute. The audience could sense something was really wrong as well and the meek soprano entrance set the stage for that god awful performance. It was the worst show of the year for most of us and we lost Nationals then & there. The staff took full responsibility for the debacle and apologized to us when we got back to our housing site. Tim Salzmann brought us back from the abyss of despair with one of the best off-the-cuff motivational speeches, and we barely slept that night. “I am standing in front of the first drum corps that is going to go from 4th in Prelims to 1st at Finals,” and we believed every word. My understanding is that our last run through before Finals was considered far superior by parents and observers who were there versus our Finals run, and we kept it close.
