  1. If I was going to ask someone who has never seen drum corps to watch one performance from this season I would show them Boston. I wouldn't have to explain the design, though I'd have a problem with the "hats", and the music explains itself. I just love this show
  2. It has been quite a few years since I was at Allentown and I was wondering if they had moved the corps yet to perform further from the stadium. The top corps blasting their warmups really intruded on the corps actually performing on the field. By they way the top corps performing near the end didn't have this happen to them. I asked a corps director about this at the time and he said that's Allentown. I have seen only maybe twenty DCI shows in person but Allentown was the only location where I was distracted by external sounds.
  3. Others than myself would be better qualified to comment but is it possible that the corps out here in West actually like starting out in California while their routines are coming together. They get more time at their home base which I think would be a positive. Especially in cases like SCV who didn't have an ending until a few shows in.
  4. I brought a copy of Runaway Jury by John Grisham to read while sitting in the courtroom. They filled the jury before they got to me.
  5. BD performs at a level no corps can really match. But I think of Drum Coros as an art. Because something is perfect doesn't make it art for me. I really don't want hear Moon River or maybe Simple Gifts being played by yet another corps. Congratulations to the Blue Devils on preforming what will be a technically perfect show come finals with performers that other corps can only dream of. I, however, will be following shows that maybe will take me the whole season to fully understand.
  6. Wasn't the Rose Bowl grass in 2007 my son who marched that year said it was terrible. But they switched to turf since then. Thought that would fix it.
  7. Maybe it is the quality of my stream but I find the unis boring.
  8. If previous scores shouldn't be considered, a opinion I share, perhaps step off times should be more random. I'm not saying the previous 17th placing corps should go last in prelims but maybe a little mixing up would would allow scores to more accurately represent a corps performance rather than having some preset starting point that is tweaked up or down. posted from the DrumScorps app
  9. My son marched when he was 14 and did fine. However since we lived in the town where the corps was based there was really no move-in and they didn't leave the state until later than the other corps so the tour was not as long. Both of those things made it easier for a younger person to handle the load.
  10. The Bluecoats show is the most entertaining show I've seen in the time I've watched DCI. But for me it isn't Drum Corps. It is a musical show which could be performed on a stage. You guys are the experts I'm just a casual observer but had to weigh in. posted from the DrumScorps app
  11. My son who marched years ago watched a little of one of the Flocasts with me. He really hasn't watched any corps since he stopped marching. He asked 2 questions One "When did they start putting a mike on soloists" and Two "When did they start playing music standing still though it was marching music." posted from the DrumScorps app
  12. I wonder if we get the feed off of different servers. I've never had a problem with Flo video Roku, FireTV or PC, other than a quibble with the director's choice of camera shots. Sometime the audio is off but mike-ing a marching band is tough. posted from the DrumScorps app
  13. Bluetiful show Well performed I'm sure the crowds love a show with familiar music. But I don't listen to classic rock and get bored when the music is from my HS years. So this show does nothing for me. For me it's like hearing Simple Gifts yet again.
  14. My son who marched years ago ran into at least one judge who didn't get out of the way. That wasn't such a big deal but there were instances of equipment being damaged as a result of collisions. Bad enough when those collisions are members running into members tougher when a judge is responsible.
  15. Given that 2nd Sacramento show is the Mandarins "home" show with Mandarins running it and being the only WC corps there you'd have to find someone to organize it and without Mandarins being there attendence would drop. A casual fan like me is happy to watch OC corps but only as part of a show that has WC representation.
