I love that BD is celebrating 60, SCV is celebrating 50, and these two are battling out like they did back in the 70s and early 80s.

Great job tonight BD!!!! Keep pushing. Can't wait to see new ending ... SCV is just outstanding. This will be very close come Finals night.

Well ... in 1982 the Garfield Cadets finished third at Montreal Finals with an awesome, innovative show that was the precursor to their breakout win in 1983.

Oh wait! Forget it. I agree with everything you say. You're right! :) And to return the sentiment, as a longtime BD fan, I thought Crown absolutely deserved high guard. I was there, and they were flawless. I was surprised to see the finals guard numbers. Show kicked butt too.

I see where you're coming from .... sometimes I miss the ole tick system that went away after ... I think 1983? My point is that all sub-captions measure based on design. So the compositions/arrangements are judged in brass, MA and percussion. Drill in VA and VP, etc. not just a GE caption thing.

Oh wait ... Nevermind! More power to "execution" captions please, and waaaaay less to GE. :)) This would have widened the gap nicely in 2015 too ...

I don't think you quite understand the judging categories. Each category, not just GE, is evaluated both on "what" the performers are doing as well as "how well" they are doing it. Brass, Percussion, visual performance break out into Content (what) and Achievement (how well). Check out the actual judging sheets.

I'm not sure if I understand ... give Carolina SCV's 1st place percussion score, and Crown's score inches up .3. Ahead of BD, but still not winning. So how, in this case, does this mesh with "drummers end up calling the whole show"?

13 separate banks of speakers. Down low last night the amplified sound was overwhelming. I have a feeling it will be much cooler up high.
