  1. They usually end up taking a couple of their kids, so this is no different.
  2. Brutal response, but very true. They had a nice show this year, great recruiting tool maybe too. But I wonder how long their low ranking and placements since going to World Class will actually effect them in recruiting and membership. I think in today's day and age, kids want to at least get to Friday and then Saturday Night during finals week.
  3. I guess I'd like to see OC now tomorrow night...seeing how the out scored the Surf. You see how funny things can sound once everything pans out......
  4. They had all year to get on the big screen, it is what it is. It's a fun show, they found a niche for this season, maybe a good recruiting tool too. What do they do next year? Continue playing Bridgemen Music? 27th? Northstar? or Golden Oldies from corps gone by? It's still a competition, not a popularity contest. Fans complained over the past 6-7 years that they wanted less talking and more fan friendly shows, over the past 4 or so years, corps listened and gave us better shows. Phantom, Madison, SVC, Crown, Bloo and yes Even the Cadets have given us incredible shows the past few years. That's what you wanted and that's what you have now.
  5. It's interesting to see a 19th place show get this much attention.
  6. This a great show with great corps. There will be a ton of band kinds there from the camp at WCU, so expect plenty of talking during every corps performance. Just remind the bandos, NO you didn't do that first!
  7. I try not to read anything by Mike Boo. I have a hard time believing that this is the best choice that DCI has to offer when it comes live coverage and different written material. With today's social networks, I would feel a younger more in-tune voice would be better represented.
  8. Just remember 42 horn in February mean 22 by June. So you need at least 80-90 brass players in the winter to get at least 40 in the field in July.
  9. not for nothing, but The Troopers played G for years, the activity screamed at them to get Bb and they refused and every year they placed in the 17-13 spot. Then they get Bb, they attract more kids, better students, better staff and boom, they make the top 12. I love G, the WHOLE DCI lanscape does not. Do the math.
  10. Maybe this will help From DCP's Stat Center 1. Buccaneers 93.718 +1.812 8/28 2. Empire Statesmen 92.478 +2.271 8/28 3. Hurricanes 92.462 +1.330 8/28 4. Minnesota Brass 91.944 +1.595 8/22 5. Caballeros 90.828 +1.260 8/28 6. Bushwackers 85.454 +0.349 8/28 7. Kidsgrove Scouts 83.325 +83.325 8/28 8. Kilties 82.246 +1.985 8/22 9. CorpsVets 81.462 +3.095 8/21 10. Alliance 80.580 +4.255 8/21 The DCP numbers hold up very well during the season, so this should be your top ten? I would think the Renegades should be in the top 10 too, so you never know.
  11. DCI = Drum Corps INTERNATIONAL , Corps from all over the world compete against each other. International corps on all levels over the years have had great success over the years in DCI. Has there ever been a DCI show in Tiawan? No, but for years corps from that country competed in DCI and did really well here in the USA. DCA = Drum Corps ASSOCIATES Associates has many descriptions, but the dictionary gives many explainations. –noun 7. a person who shares actively in anything as a business, enterprise, or undertaking; partner; colleague; fellow worker: He consulted with his associates before proceeding further. 8. a companion or comrade: my most intimate associates. 9. a confederate; an accomplice or ally: criminal associates. 10. anything usually accompanying or associated with another; an accompaniment or concomitant. 11. a person who is admitted to a subordinate degree of membership in an association or institution: an associate of the Royal Academy. –adjective 12. connected, joined, or related, esp. as a companion or colleague; having equal or nearly equal responsibility: an associate partner. 13. having subordinate status; without full rights and privileges: an associate member. 14. allied; concomitant. Say what you want, defend all you want, but the bottom line is if 10th place spot is between a DCA corps that has sponsored a show and a visiting corps from another country that is here for a week or so to compete, my money is on the DCA corps that sponsored a show to get that 10th spot.
  12. Are you telling me the judges need 2-3 shows to come up with a good score for a corps? You would think DCA would have top quality judges on board to score a corps that they have not seen yet. Just give them the score they deserve without worrying about some corps that has been around for 100 years and how much complaining they will do.
  13. What did you expect? You can say this for any corps that does one or 2 DCA shows and then pops up at finals weekend. They should make Finals, I would be stunned if they did.
