  1. The executive board has been tweaking and discussing this proposal for months. It could be 8 corps instead of 9 though. It puts the future and direction of DCI in the corps director's hands (who are affected the most) instead of the hands of outside board members.
  2. I didn't march Regiment and I think all of your conspiracy comments are absolutely ridiculous. As far as color guard...Regiments guard was MUCH stronger than Bluecoats last year. Bluecoats made a great move in getting Rick and his team. I've heard nothing but incredible things.
  3. Solid blue pants. Possible shako which I think would be a huge mistake.
  4. It's going to pass. I can't wait! I think this will be a great step forward.
  5. I've gone through full summers with both Pearl and Dynasty. I've spent multiple seasons with Dynasty with both drum corps, indoor, and high school. I guess the groups I've taught do something special with the Dynasty's because I've never experienced drums breaking. Minor things here and there, but no more than Pearl. Nothing out of the ordinary for drums being played constantly on the road all tour. Do have examples of horror stories of their drums breaking? Were these stories from back in 2000, 2001? I'm just not experiencing what you say happens.
  6. Thanks! I forgot about Father Ryan. That's a great opportunity for a great high school program. They're the first high school indoor line to go over. Sending indoor groups over is going to be a yearly thing for Dynasty.
  7. I don't know of any corps that trades in instruments. The majority of the corps sells off their hornline to high schools and individuals every 1, 2, or 3 years. They buy new horns, make a small profit, and have better equipment then they ever had when they had to play on G.
  8. Oh, and they have a strong presence in Europe. I would venture to say they've done more to promote American Drum Corps and indoor percussion over there than any other company. They've already sent Blue Devils, Glassmen, and Rhythm X over there. Matrix is going in March. Am I missing anyone?
  9. Or, they've greatly improved their product and provide customer support like no others.
  10. Does anyone know what exact piece that is on their Myspace page? I love it.
  11. Yes, they have a deal to get them for free. Bluecoats also have the deal. I'm not sure about any of the FJM corps.
  12. Well...except for the uniform changes that are free because of sponsorship.
  13. The new Blue Knights site is much improved! Love the banner at the top. The Blue Devils site has to be one of the worst now.
  14. You'd probably have better luck emailing the Bluecoats or the director of the movie on the movie's website.
  15. They'll mostly be filled with kids who didn't make the cuts before at the top corps. It's not going to hurt the open class corps. Most kids don't march if they don't make their top 1-2 choices.
  16. Actually, no. Sorry, That doesn't answer the question. That article says that they are still in need of money by the end of the year to first pay off the debt. The majority has been paid. How much is left then? Has it been paid and now they're just building a surplus. Maybe I'm reading it wrong. If so, please enlighten me. Thank you. "After having committed their own resources, the board of directors' goal is to raise an additional $100,000 before the end of the year. This will accomplish two objectives: provide the remaining dollars owed to the note-holder and allow the corps to have resources more readily available to operate the drum corps in the future."
  17. Um....okay. Anyway, what's the status on the debt? Has the amount been raised? Did they borrow from DCI to help pay the other part of it down? I don't see any reason for this thread to be closed. I guess you're not supposed to ask questions about the financial status of an organization when there's a public plea for money.
  18. When I marched in High School not too long ago, there were zero fee's. Around 120 members. Decent sized staff and design time with experience, average community, BOA band, average band booster program. I'm not sure why there are fee's. We did some fundraisers for trips, but that's about it.

  20. I guess I'm missing some extra prestige of being an age-out. Yes, I aged out and did the ceremony thing. What's the big deal? There's alumni around my corps all the time. I couldn't tell you who aged-out and who just marched a few years. Also, you don't have to be aged out to teach. I know people that have taught that still had a year to go. Maybe I'm missing something here...but if you don't want to march the extra year. Don't. When WGI changed the age-limit, it wasn't at big deal. People aged themselves out when they thought it was appropriate. Are there people that are marching in WGI forever and holding off their lives because WGI won't put an age-limit in place for them? Not that I can see.
  21. The Colts have set up an easy way to help their families... http://www.colts.org/store/site/department...9052E3C0A73714E
  22. I can't wait for electronic instruments!!! So many possibilities.
