One of my two faves this year.  Thank you, Phantom Regiment for being you.  Unmistakably you.  From your uniforms, to your music, to the color of your guard uniforms, to the sound of your brassline despite the flo cluster####.  I apologize if this sounds trite but I mean it sincerely.

Read that Flomarching took the Tom Blair feed directly last night.  They had no control of audio but helped the team fix some issues.  Tom Blair covers the premier and finals week.   Flo would handle audio at all other shows.

Bloo feels new and fresh. Thank you Bloo for taking a chance on something that no one has done before.

They are certainly not wearing White. Those pants are going to give visual judges headaches though.

Right. Not playing it safe. I don't like the costume by itself, but in the mix of everything, it just works.

I still don't know why they have to be so super secretive of their show rep, otherwise I'd comment on the specifics of what I heard.

I can certainly say that some things they are playing this year are in the public domain, so....

What I heard was great and will be awesome in August!

Nothing in their show is public domain. One of their members leaked their rep with their Spotify list a few weeks back.

  4. Wow, people complaining about staff pay.  As someone teaching brass for over 15 years, I don’t know anyone doing this for the money.  Most teaching staff get paid by the number of days they teach now instead of arbitrary amounts. Overall budget for my caption has grown very little in the past 15 years.

Large staffs are limited by the size of the vehicles.  Yes, there’s more people on staff but still only 3-4 people on the road for our brass staff at a time.  People rotate out more which is much healthier than people staying on for 80 days straight and getting burnt out.  I made $37 a day last year and I know my peers in some of the other top corps are not much higher. I guess that’s the issue.  Whoever is doing this for the money is making a bad life choice.

After Terri's review of " CHEER" I watched season 2 episode 1 where one of the STARS of the documentary was arrested  for child pornography..There was no further mention of this incident in this episode: It felt like " lets get through this quickly so that we can focus again on cheering"...And this is apparently the creme de la creme of cheering squads..Again, the paralells between drum corps and cheering at that level, makes you want to be even more dilligent when considering the environment you want your child to march in..As one Texan parent said" Winning is everything"..My retort: But at what cost?

It wasn't mentioned further in that episode because that episode only covered the beginning of the system. They addressed it out front and then in the timeline of the season, the issues come to light in episode 5.

Sorry if I’m jumping in with a different twist on this horrific thread … but does anyone else watch Netflix’s Cheer? I highly recommend it in general as it also relates to Varsity and their involvement with Cheerleading, and  is a cautionary tale for DCI … but that is a side issue, though worth exploring.

My main point is watch, if nothing else, season 2, episode 5. It very much relates to DCI’s and SoA’s situations (although I acknowledge it isn’t a perfect analogy).

Tricia N. figures prominently in this as well.

    Talk about pageantry leaches ….

Cheer and Drum Corps are so similar.  Definitely worth the watch.
