  1. I think PR's biggest departure ever was 2004.
  2. 1. Bluecoats having, IMO, their best corps ever! 2. Phantom's music. 3. The Cadets theme!
  3. I agree. Everyone said that we don't know Bluecoats are ahead of Cavies because it was different shows, even though they both had seen Crown/Cadets. When Bloo, Cavies and PR met, it fell right in line with the spreads between Bloo and Cadets/Crown. Furthermore, hardly anything changed last year when full panels were introduced. Right now, Cavies are in fourth place. If you through BD into the mix, they are certainly 5th. SCV is a wild card. Say SCV is ahead of them - that puts Cavies 6th. That's not even counting the Blue Stars. So to say Academy, Troopers and Blue Knights could be within three points of Cavies, essentially says Cavies could be in 7th - 10th right now, with Phantom in 11th. Not realistic - by the largest stretch! I think saying that Madison and Glassmen are ahead of Troopers, Academy at Blue Kinghts AT THIS STAGE OF THE SEASON is a very very safe bet.
  4. I disagree. You can compare different shows in a sense. It is not possible that those three corps are within 3 points of Cavies/PR. Period!
  5. Me too. I mean Glassmen and Madison are possibly the 10th and 11th place corps right now and they are only 3 points down from the Cavies. This is shaping up to be one great season. Blooooo's guard is AWESOME IMO!
  6. Maybe you should rethink that. I remember Star '91. I hated that show at finals and was stunned that the Cavies didn't win. A few years later and it was my favorite show and now I cannot believe it didn't win by a larger margin. Best show ever IMO.
  7. Well, I didn't know anything about their show prior to seeing it, and I dont' think the average fan is going to get that simply from viewing the show. It's definitely better than last year, drill wise, but IMO it is not nearly as effective as Bluecoats, Cavies, Crown and Cadets. Time will tell and I wish them well. Musically, it's my favorite show I've heard this season.
  8. I just watched this show on fan network and what a big pile of crap it is! JUST KIDDING. It bloooo me away. Although I don't get the theme, the music and visuals were fantastic, and what a guard. I could definitely see this show staying ahead of Regiment and the Cavies all season. Way to go Bluecoats.
  9. My problem with Myron is it is demand for the shake of demand and a very compact drill. Just look at the complete lack of field coverage. It's not a good drill, at all IMO. Better than last year, but still not as effective as Crown, Cadets, Cavies and Bluecoats IMO.
  10. I love those - fierce! It's going to be really interesting when Blue Stars and Boston get in the mix. Shaping up to be a really good season.
  11. Wow, we think exactly opposite. I think the show is musically spectacular - the opening is gorgeous. I absolutely love the show musically. I do not like the show visually. I have never been a fan of Myron. This reminds me of past SCV drills (like Madison '06 did) and like Madison '06 it seems that there is demand for the shake of demand and nothing more. Honestly, I do not see this show catching Crown, Cadets, Cavies or Bluecoats - they (Bloo) were phenomenal and although their drill isn't as demanding as Regiment's, it's much more effective in my opinion. For the life of me I will never understand why Myron's still working - it's rehash after rehash, and demand for the sake of demand.
  12. I don't understand why people care about recaps at this point in the season - it's not a full judging panel.
  13. Crossmen were actually 7th in 1990. They finished 6th in 1992 and 1997.
  14. Some of the judging at finals that year was a crock of crap. There's no way Star should not have won brass out right and there's no way they should have been 3rd in visual. That show simply blew the rest of the field away - they deserved more than a 97.0 and they deserved to win by much more than .7!
  15. Personally, I wouldn't have done anything. I mean, really, how good is the quality going to be with the crowd drowning out the corps and from a handheld? While I would never record shows, if someone else does it, I'm not going to worry about it. The guy is likely a fan and I bet bought the DVDs anyway. I know that's an assumption, but if you're going to go to that much trouble, I'd imagine he would buy the DVDs. Plus, you never know what you might be getting yourself into if you confront someone. Imagine if he hit you and you were both escorted out of the show...Not good. I remember in '87 a staff member brought my boom box in to record Star and Phantom at the Canton show. It provided us enjoyment on the bus, as many of us were fans of Regiment's '87 show. Lastly, come on - you know everyone on here scoures online video sites in hopes of finding shows during the season. They are illegial as well, but we don't complain, nor do we not purchase the official recordings and DVDs.
  16. I've always wondered that too. When I marched, Memorial Day weekend was our last camp. Our season started the next weekend and our show, minus the very ending was on the field. It boggles my mind that corps today have 4-5 weeks of everydays before the season starts and they can't even have the whole show on the field in time. It doesn't make sense. This especially irks me with SCV, because I feel they are always playing catch up because their staff can't get the show on the field in time. Not trying to signal SCV out - just love them so much and wish they would return to their kickin' butt ways
  17. You guys were pretty darn good that year too My God, I loved your show so much. SCV and PR were my far and out favorites that year.
  18. Although I am the biggest Vanguard fan, I voted for the Cadets. While I thought SCV stayed so close to the original, that it was beautiful, Garfield had more impacts and I loved the runs being done by the brass. I want loud and fast in my drum corps. I also thought Garfield's visual package was much better.
  19. I'll play. Cavaliers: Likely 5th. I don't see them placing higher. I believe Crown and SCV will improve on last year, with the Cadets and BD not missing a step. Should be an interesting top 4. Phantom: 6th. Rebounding is not going to be easy. They are certainly not going to jump to a 2005-2008 level after last year. Way too many problems last year to be magically fixed in one year. However, I do think they will rebound to 6th place. Bluecoats/Blue Stars: 7th to 9th (with Boston). Madison: 10th. That staff is just too good. Glassmen/Colts: ?
  20. Well, '06 Bluecoats were not at the level of '07, '08 or '09 Crown. Let's look facts in the face - any other year in DCI history and that '06 Bluecoats corps would have been 6th (at best).
  21. I would like to see: 1. Crown win it! 2. Vanguard finish in the top 3 3. Regiment beat out Bluecoats for 6th 4. Madison making finals. Strangely, I think #1 is the only possibility, and even that is major wishful thinking :)
  22. He probably concluded that because BD, Crown, HNC and Santa Clara ALL have better shows than the Cavies this year. They are peaking IMO.
  23. No offense, well ok offense, but this statement is pure stupidity. The judges gave Phantom the win because overall they were the best corps on the field last year. End of story. On to Vanguard - I love the show. It's nice to see something so true to the original and it is beautiful. The whole thing. I cannot wait to see it finals night.
  24. WOW!!! Santa Clara beats Crown. Crazy. So happy for Vanguard.
  25. I really wouldn't be to quick to drop them to the bottom 6. I think finishing as high as 5th is a possibility for them. I don't know why everyone thinks they have a horrible visual program. I'm sorry, but Phantom absolutely has a better drill than SCV this year. I'm not trying to rip on SCV (they are my favorite corps after all), but I'm just surprised everyone is slamming Phantom's drill. Yes, Phantom has guard issues, but I honestly believe they will be 6th (at lowest) by the end of the season. They have a horn line that can challenge the top lines and their drum line is championship worthy. Their musical scores are saving them right now - if they clean up the visual they will easily top Blue Stars, BAC and probably Bluecoats. Personally, I believe they will finish the season in 5th place, ahead of SCV too.
