  1. Couldn't help but notice that the bass line is one short (top bass is missing). I hope that everything is ok with her and that they'll be back to 6 basses soon.
  2. Does anyone know which school they'll be staying at for the Orlando show?
  3. Does anyone know the status of the 4th tenor player or if they're going to add another if God forbid the 4th can't march the rest of the season?
  4. #facts. Like everyone around here is saying, Colin and his staff will get them where they need to be. Cadets 2015 had 10 snares and was killing it in percussion throughout the whole season for the most part if I'm not mistaken and that line was freaking SOLID! So they'll be fine.
  5. While I 100% agree with this statement, it's kind of sad to realize that some of the extremely sexy and tasty writing that Colin McNutt did for this season has already met the hose 😔
  6. Does anyone know if the battery has a lot of returning vets?
  7. Yeah I was saying the same thing. There's some of the stuff in here that I haven't seen in other McNutt writings. It's definitely a nice change and step up from paradiddles, double paradiddles, triple paradiddles and paradiddle diddles every measure. Yes.......even SCV is sloppy right now 😂
  8. Wow! McNutt has taken things to a whole new level!
  9. Does anyone know when Vic Firth will be filming BAC for the recording of the "Learn the Music" segment for this season?
  10. Let us not forget 2013 when Carolina Crown won despite getting 6th in percussion. Anything is possible despite some missed targets in sub-captions.
  11. If I'm not mistaken, I think that Cadets 2008 closer was also visually the same throughout the season with minor music tweaks. I could be wrong though.
  12. Ok mboogey73, I see what you're saying and can definitely agree with some of your point. Maybe I didn't word it correctly, but I'm not at all saying that their amazing sound comes from standstills and mics. But I will say that BD does a lot of parking and blowing. I'd have to look at their shows again but off of the top of my head, I feel like 2003 was the last time that they have a drill set where they were moving (hauling tail) during a loud and powerful moment. But yes, I will agree with the rest of what you said wholeheartedly.
  13. So just thinking well ahead of what I should be, what do you all think the changes will be to finalize the show and when do you see them being implemented? By San Antonio?
  14. Someone finally said it, THANK YOU!! While I think that BD is an amazing corps and in my opinion has the best design team in the activity, their use of electronics is just way too much! Their brass is always mic'ed up and one tends to hear more of the amplified sound than the beautiful sounds coming out of the ends of those bells. I SO miss the days when BD would blow the skin off of your face while on the move with no help by way of mics but unfortunately those days are gone. It just seems like in this day in age, BD does a lot of powerful volume by way of standing still and mics spread widely across the sidelines. Don't get me wrong, BD is still amazing in every way possible but I just miss the good ole days of loud and powerful drum and bugle corps. I get it though, things have to evolve. Go ahead BD homers......release the hounds.
  15. Love the fact that you used a VFR Sectional to illustrate the weather. I smell a fellow aviation geek.
  16. Not to play devil's advocate or anything but weren't Bluecoats killing it early season 2017 and then ended up winni.......wait.....coming in 5th in August?
  17. Alright Cadets....you have my attention I must admit that I'm REALLY loving the show this year. Brass is sounding good, balanced, not too loud and not too soft. Guard will get to where they need to be. Percussion is sounding great! Aungst isn't messing around this year! This show definitely has legs and I can't wait to see how the season progresses. Mark my words, The Cadets will be competitive again soon. I hate to harp on this point/topic but I will say that it's very refreshing to see the corps bounce back strong during this "post GH" era. Keep working hard as you always do and leave the field on finals knowing that you overcame A LOT!! Keep growing rep by rep and as Brad Toth (Soprano '99, Trumpet '00, Drum Major '01, former Brass Caption Head at Blue Knights and current Brass Caption Head at Phantom Regiment) used to tell us during my tenure at Magic of Orlando...."take advantage of every rep and opportunity to get better!" By the way....as a tuba player....I don't know WHO that tuba (Contra player for us old school folks) thought he was sounding amazing on that solo in Sensemaya. Great job tonight and keep going upwards!
  18. I can't help but notice that the battery started with 5 tenors (In the Vic Firth video) and in the recent video that I saw of them warming up before the preview show, there are only 4 tenors. Does anyone know what happened to the other tenor player?
  19. Forgive me if this has been said already but is anyone going to the preview show tonight and when is the BFDTV performance?
