  1. Mayflower (from London England) announced its plans to return to compete at the 2013 WGI World Championships in Dayton Ohio, in the Independent World class. Mayflower will once again be a truly international guard with auditions taking place in both the UK and USA, with US members expected to move to the UK by the end of January 2013. To help provide more detailed information, Mayflower has created a new website www.mayflowerworldguard.co.uk Michael Shapiro will once again be designing the show. It will be his 12th season of writing for Mayflower. Barry Davis, Director of Mayflower commented, “We are very excited to be returning for our 7th trip to WGI. It’s a huge organisational and financial commitment for us that is 3 years in the planning. We will be an active member of our UK circuit and straight after the UK championships we will travel to Dayton and have a week of rehearsals and performances prior to competing in the preliminary competition.” He concluded, “After such a fantastic experience in 2010, we cannot wait to return and compete on the world stage.” For more information: UK: Barry Davis: davis.barry@sky.com US: Michael Shapiro: coronaguardguy@aol.com http://www.mayflowerworldguard.co.uk
  2. Don't understand why Blue Stars guard haven't been scoring higher. They were outstanding tonight, with such a tough book. Hope they get the recognition, and don't just end in 11th because that's where they are seeded
  3. Great show Crossmen. Their guard adds so much to the programme
  4. Mandarins seem to be taking us to the next level of corps, after Teal Sound et al
  5. Teal Sound isn't doing it for me. Show seems about 30mins long!
  6. I was impressed with Surf. Guard is their strong point.
  7. I predict there might be a 2nd European guard in IW finals
  8. With Phantom winning or thereabouts percussion yet positioned in 6-8th place overall, how high a score is the percussion judge willing to give them going on before 5-6 other corps? I doubt 9.9s &10.0s. And if BD is in 3-4th place in percussion then their score relative to Phantom's is going to hold them back from getting 9.9s across the board and gaining the a new DCI high score. So unless there is a big turn around in their percussion scores, BD won't be getting a new high score at this year's DCI.
  9. And the first chance to see Mayflower from the UK!!!
  10. Mayflower kicks their season off starting September 6th. Looking to be a very exciting, multi cultural season!!! Want to know more? Contact robert.dacosta@tiscali.co.uk
  11. I think this means the corps who goes on last is the only one who is truly scored out of 100, whilst everyone else is scored out of 98
  12. Is it possible for any other corps to score a perfect 10 in any one caption bar the last corps on? (for fear of the judge not 'leaving enough room'). Assuming that generally the judges would never score anyone bar the last corps a 10, it means that the only the last corps on is genuinely marked out of 100 and everyone else is scored out of 98 (20 subcaptions). Also how does a corps further down the rankings with an exceptional section (e.g. Blue Stars colorguard or Phantom's hornline) genuinely get scored the score they would get if there were performing last? How can DCI change this to make it equal for all corps? - random draw would do it - but play havoc! - what else?
  13. This premise ensures that only the last corps on will get a chance of scoring a 10 - which means for the rest of the corps, the score is not really out of a possible 100. It also means that corps lower down, with an exceptional section (e.g. Blue Star's Colorguard) cannot really earn the credit they deserve for fear of not leaving enough space for groups above them........
  14. Blue Stars were amazing. Huge step up from BK and GM. I hope they get the credit. They have one of the best guards in DCI and they performed the heck out of it tonight. Hope they get the score and their performance order doesnt go against them?
