  1. Way to go BD! Its nice to see someone new contending for the title too!
  2. Blue Devils - La Fiesta SCV - Young Person's Guide Blue Devils - One More Time Chuck Correa
  3. Wouldn't this also add a bus full of $3,000.00 tour fees as well?
  4. I would also like to add that in addition to Drum Corps Experts and Reading Each Others Minds, that we also know exactly what is on the minds of ALL Corps Directors and understand their thought process and motivation for each and every decision they make and of course any of us could have done it better.
  5. I really in general do not like how Stu makes his point... But I do agree with Stu here and after I marched for 2 seasons in a smaller corps where I really learned what DCI and the whole competitive aspect, I marched a corps for the next 3 years that gave me a chance to: 1) Perform at night. 2) have a shot at the ring. 3) gave me a chance to perform at the highest level possible. I had 2 corps that afforded me that opportunity right in my back yard, so I picked the one that was less militaristic and had a more casual style of rehearsal. I was never one for being pushed around.
  6. I think I figured out why no mini corps are signing up! You can't go watch the Great Frank Ponzo play there anymore...
  7. There was a similar painting done in the 80's of the Blue Devils. Does anyone know who painted it? My avatar is a clip from that painting and I was lucky enough to be in the painting. Now I really want to know who painted it! P.S. Sorry for taking a bit away from Madison to get my question answered...
  8. Let me make this clear... This is NOT the first thread where you have gotten into a long drawn out argument with someone over what happens NOT to be the specific subject of the thread! The term is I believe... "HIJACKING" which may be fun for you, but adds pages of mindless drivel for the reader... Assuming of course that they were there because of an interest in what they believed the thread to be about. Have a nice day...
  9. It is funny... to read this post it indicates that you feel everyone who goes on the field at DCI achieves the same level of performance, and the only differentiating factor is the "Opinion" of the judge. It also could be... That everyone brings the same winning attitude to the field, but that some fall short when the "rubber meets the road" so to speak. The judge decides based upon the varying levels of performance who performs the best and then ranks all the performances from top to bottom and that the end result is because of performance level far more than because of opinion. Just a thought
  10. I can see that perspective Mike... Although back in the late 70's and early 80's when I marched in High School... We were a lot more like I described.
  11. In Drum Corps, everyone is there to create the best possible show that can be created with the building blocks provided. In High School not everyone is there working as hard as they can toward the common goal, some are there to have a lot of fun and not to do much work. Other than that... There really isn't much difference...
  12. As I recall, they played on Chrome not Silver. I always wondered how they sounded so good playing on Chrome Horns that were all smashed up from their buckle smash!
  13. Hi Keith, Here is my take on it... I go to one show a year and it is in June because I live in California. When I go to that show, all this DCP vitrol doesn't exist. Sure I suppose there could be some jerk spouting off while his team is getting the short end of the competitive stick, but for the most part, it is a bunch of nice people going to watch what they love, or to watch those who they love, doing what they love to do. Here on these boards however, it is a different deal. People are much bolder and far more brash here than in person, dare I say this includes me? Well it does... People are willing to take a position on the ridiculous here and no one really knows who they are, unless they put who they really are in their signature line... Some do... So Keith... If you have to walk away completely, I will miss you and I do wish you well... But maybe it would be good to take a breather here for the off season, let us jerks slug it out over who should have what mindset while marching, to make it a more positive experience for the watcher! LOL Then at the beginning of next season... even if she isn't all that into it... Take Mrs. Hall out on a date, and end up at a drum corps show. No need to be the expert and no need to be in charge... Just watch some fun drum corps holding hands with your honey! If I had 3 wishes, I would use this one up just for you two... Tony
  14. This was your response to a guy who retired from drum corps 3 years before the incident you discuss. You are a very small person... at least that is most likely what all the gal's say...
