Death to the Seat Poachers

Your seats were much better than mine. Besides, I told Amy how you don't take #### off anyone, so she wouldn't have dared to stare you down haha -
Death to the Seat Poachers
DCImonkey replied to cowtown's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I only saw a few poachers around where I sat....granted, I sat in ####sville....but what irritates me are the people who constantly have to carry on conversations during shows....or decide the ballad is the absolute best time to open a bag of candy. I thought my wife was going to flip out on some old lady. -

TOC/NightBEAT Winston-Salem, NC - July 30

Have you seen Cadets show? Worst overabundance of unnecessary vocals in the history of DCI. Crown's vocalist performs her duet with the hornline perfectly well and blended (yes I saw it live) and then immediately goes into the Percussion ensemble piece which is their closer, which (in case you don't know anything about the source music) features a vocalist. You know what that piece doesn't include originally? A HORNLINE. So if you want to complain....complain about Crown's use of hornline in their closer because it's not meant to be there...... but you won't do that because you're not stupid. You know that it's all necessary and she's actually a very good and capable singer but you're butthurt because they dared to try something NEW....and they get standing ovations for it. Hey man, I get it, there are lots of people that are uncomfortable with new things, but let's drop this mess. Singing isn't going anywhere. You know what I hate? Singing that isn't being naturally produced! That's right Cavaliers, Colts, Blue Devils, Mandarins and someone else that escapes me. If you're going to have singing in your show at least have the balls to have someone actually performing it. It's so easy to hit a button instead of using real talent. That upsets me -
SCV and BD in top 2...really?!!
DCImonkey replied to chris7997's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
SCV has the most difficult drill and most appealing to my eyes. Their brass is performing some tasty licks, perhaps not on the level of BD or Crown, but they are undeniably good. Their percussion is off the charts good..... SCV has enough GE to make an obscure show concept like Ouroboros actually work and get people off their butts cheering for them. I love the new look and believe they should be challenging for the win. Oh that colorguard feature at the end of the show pops like very few other guard features do. I think you're a melody man, and you don't like the music...therefore it must not be good. Oh well. SCV for the Gold please -
Pretty sure Cavaliers won the first year in 2006 at the GaDome. I agree it is a Crown home show as it's only 3 hours from Charlotte. I stopped going to NightBeat and started going to ATL because for essentially the same amount of money I was guaranteed a show (dome) and I got to see everyone.

Wow so they have done it in my lifetime......... neet

Boston beat Cadets for what? The first time that I can ever recall in my lifetime...... Yeah they should be excited. They should talk about it, and everyone else can jump in a lake. Congrats Boston. You did a thing! Be proud. I sure as hell am!

LOL! Yeah, I was watching drum corps when you were in diapers Hroth. It's better now in every possible way except cost. Period
-
That is an excellent quote! HAHA Love it. I agree also. The best sound will still come through the speakers regardless.....As long as the playing is not artificial (I'm still looking at you Bluecoats 2014)

What a terrible idea. Perhaps we should eliminate brass instruments too because of all the crappy corps that don't play well. I mean that's essentially the same thing right?

DCI Orlando - July 8, 2017

Tomorrow is a parade and some free time. 2 days back in Fort Mill will be nice, then they have another camp with high school kids at Western Carolina. Those 2 days in that college stadium will be great for them especially if the weather is nice up in the mountains. They should get alot of work in. -
