  1. Yet, you can't seem to hear the synth doubling Tuba parts...why is this Mike? Untrained ears perchance?
  2. Besides not having woodwinds (today..kind of) how is it any different than marching band? Granted a very GOOD marching band that travels and members pay a lot to be there..but still a marching band in about every way that most people can relate to. Quite honestly I don't know why everyone gets so worked up about it. When there is no distinctive difference..there is no difference. There used to be but that is no more. It's like a steel drum band playing snares...would they still be steel drum band? DCI..Marching Bands Major League. See, didn't burst into flames and everyone out there can understand it...even non-drum corps people.
  3. That's the point is NOT new at all. MBA has been doing crap like this for years decades...and doing it marginally better IMHO. There is nothing new about amping, mic'd brass/vocals..been done. Want to be unique and not another marching band..step up to the plate and be different..be a drum corps.
  4. Controversy? Quite honestly, why does anyone think they are owed ANY information here? Where do these people come from that think this way?
  5. Really? So basically you dismiss facts to your "reality"? Got it.
  6. BD 2010 defines where the activity wants to be lead to by those judging running the show.
  7. Actually, you don't get it. I don't dislike BD at all. BTW, why are you speaking in the "we" vernacular?
  8. Actually, it's kind of refreshing to see a corps offer the experience to pretty much anyone that can participate. It could be, possibly, they want to actually do their own thing and not copy what everyone else is doing to be "competitive". Having actually MARCHED 4 years in a WC corps, and a smaller corps that folded before them, I see no problem with someone having loyalty and enjoying the experience Pioneer has to offer. Quite honestly, I could sit and watch Pioneer from last year a hundred times before sitting through the winning DCI show from last year again.
  9. This are people out there that still think "Pi$$ Christ" is a work of fantastic art as well....I will leave it at that.
  10. I have a whole new respect for mirrors and how they can be used to cover things that aren't there. David Copperfield was amazed.
  11. Interesting. Well, teamwork IS teamwork and personal initiative is what it is. In that sense, I don't see an issue here because it could be without a doubt. The band in drumline was there to be good and entertain the audience also. I think you have some valid points.
  12. Absolutely. BTW, we have already proved that BD got standing O's in Allentown.
  13. I agree..to a fine point. The show that wins should actually have judgeable content, demand and exposure. When you have really none of these and still win, there is a problem. When a corps puts it on the line (not standing still or doing scatter drill) but actual judgeable content in the arena we call drum corps, they should be getting credit where credit is due..and not rewarding something that isn't there. Let's face it, standing still, playing..is so...70's..save the fact in the 70's you would feel that music hit you.
  14. I liked your previous answer before you edited it...so much cutting truth in it. ;)
  15. 1988, 95, 99 Madison Scouts, 1986, 88 Blue Devils, 1987, 88 Santa Clara, 1989,91,96 Phantom...just for a few.
  16. ..or, they string along as many as possible to suck every single dollar they can. I hope this isn't the case, but the sheer amount of people they hold over and the MONEY they require to do so sure makes it seem this way. I would think after a 3 day camp you would have a #### good idea who can cut it and who can't.
